Please read our gain setting tutorial for tips on how to set your amp up correctly. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...c=3704&st=0

Tripod sir. Canon's have great white balances, if you can, shoot in RAW format so you can mess with the files later.

Be bored on new topics then. Not 6 month old ones. -
Looking for something new/ changeup

I'll say it again (although saying it in two threads is silly).. if you want even sound you need to go sealed. Another thing you said is that you're not hitting the higher notes (up to 60hz). This is midbass territory. Time to upgrade your front stage to fill in the frequency gaps. -
Honestly.. the thing that's hurting you the most is not knowing your resonant frequency of your car and tuning close to it. 31hz is going to be hard to get good numbers on.

Well certain subs do better in certain enclosures. I'd say 7 times out of 10, the ported will be louder though. It is a little hard to generalize seeing as there are so many variables to consider. You could always sell the 15" Q and go with a couple of 10" Q's or ICON's.

tube car audio amplifiers?
johnecon2001 replied to bristabrock's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Tubes in car audio... lol. I'd expect them to either not last long due to vibration, or to need constant recalibration. Specifically in class A amps. -
One 1500D? I'd say the Q's as well, but I would lean more towards fully loaded SSD's. But this all is moot, we need to know what you listen too and what your front stage consists of.

Did you make that red guide? I've been wondering how people cut square holes..

head unit suggestions
johnecon2001 replied to danieln_88's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Hate to break it to you chief... but you'll need to increase your budget if you want a screen. $500 is enough to buy used or a cheapy brand (which will only lead to failure in the future). Plan on around $700 for a quality unit. -
If you want even sound reproduction, you should consider switching to a sealed enclosure. The Q flourishes in both types, but sounds far better in the sealed environment.
-
Looks like a good spot for pictures. You should head up there at dawn/dusk and see what you can capture.
-
Indeed, all will be forgiven if I receive a PM.
-
I still say to go with the BL. You don't seem like you have enough experience to try and undertake the larger system.
-
With only $1500.. I think your plans are a little lofty. While the BTL is a superb woofer that does indeed get loud off of 3kW... the money you'll need to spend in upgrading electrical alone will leave you with next to nothing for the actual woofer, amp and enclosure. I realize you want to be insanely loud, but a proper enclosure with a proper support system will be much better than doing it half assed. I'd drop down to a BL. Stick to a 15" since you don't have the room for an 18" (the enclosure will be smaller, and cheaper to build). Buy a single 1500w amp (Sundown SAZ-1500D perhaps). Spend whatever you have left on 1/0awg wire and a spare battery.

psh, you're not supposed to ask for permission. Simply ask for forgiveness later B&

Getting an Fi Q12. Will this amp power it well? Also, will I need to u
johnecon2001 replied to schmizzle's topic in Fi Technical
The Big 3 and a better battery certainly won't hurt you. That amp will be a great match to the Q. -
I don't understand what you mean by "run 2-way active" I have done the front doors only till now. what is "IB configuration"? Active speakers refers to not using the typical passive crossover in off the shelf component speakers. You instead use a crossever before the amplification and then send one amp channel to each speaker. IB is Infinite Baffle. Usually requiring less power but using your entire trunk as the enclosure.
-
That's just a popular photography trick. two pictures, one with hood closed, one with it open. Then go to work with photoshop and blend the two.
-
Drop the Coaxials. Pick up a set of separates, run 2-way active. Don't do anything with the rears. Deaden the entire car. Use one sub in a sealed or IB configuration.
-
DON'T do this unless you have the correct processing to run a 3-way Front stage.
