Official "I'm excited for the RLi-8's" Thread
johnecon2001 replied to Buckonine's topic in SoundSplinter
F yeah. Group buy for just us on the 8's? -
Different windings for different classes. I'll bet you the one with more windings is a class a/b and the one with less is a D or a T. Class a/b is less efficient and requires more power (input) to creat more power (ouput). if you want to increase efficiency in that stage you need a different power torroid than you would use in a D class. I'm not actually sure of the workings of why more windings are more efficient.. but thats the basic reason why they differ iirc.

sweet. I like the older bimmers better than the new ones that just came out.

off name brand. on par with dog chit. -
I've got a set.. should I still use them for my front stage or sell them? I'd planned on going active with 110w to them.
-
whew, It's a two way setup. Active. Aura tweets. I toyed with the idea of going three way... but my doors are limited in space and because I drive a manual, kickpods are out of the question. I forget on how low the aura's sound good till.. but If the XXX's only go up to like 1.5k.. that's not going to be good enough. So what are some other recommendations? I've got 110w at 2 ohms and 70 at 4ohms. Size up to 7 inches. price.. uh under 200 for a set. And I guess these little bastards are for sale now.

still, for that price who cares. There are a few other dayton ones modeled after the Shiva as well. -
I believe most of them came from google.. but if you PM Denim, he might have the original file still. Or nikuk.

Which head unit has the best SQ?
johnecon2001 replied to Deathwish238's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I like my BLA... -
I'm looking for something for my rears in my apartment. I want something that curves up over my couch to shoot down. I don't want to mount anything to the walls because then I have nasty wires. Remember the Best Buy Bose demo with those curved ones in the rear? Something like that would be schweet. PE doesn't have anything like that and ebay is being coy.

Disconnect at the amp maybe? You don't use the same box for multiple subs do you?

do i need both power and grounds hooked up?
johnecon2001 replied to Slumpin's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
You actually can have to low of a remote voltage. that's why people use the relay to bolster the original signal. Radioshack has them, I'm not sure of the exact part number. But most 12v relays that split one incoming signal to two or more others will work. -

It basically adds a power distro to the mixture. The main remote line only really has enough juice for turning on around 2 amps. The relay adds more power to the line. Here's what you do. The relay has several pins on it, one of the pins you wire the existing remote too. Another recieves constant power from the battery (new little line). There are several outputs on it as well. Those go to the amps. Just ups the out put of the remote basically. -
I think I just wet myself.

Thats a great looking box. Those drivers are pretty beastly too.

errr college in another state. Figured rather than have her cheat on me while she's gone, it would just be better to end it quick. meh, at least it was my call.
