why not just call them?

I'm gonna go with no. You'll have heavy dimming and chances are the alt is going to fail pretty quick. What electrical upgrades have you looked into doing? At the very least you're going to need to do the Big 3 and an upgraded under the hood battery. A better plan would be to do both of those and then buy a high outout alternator somewhere in the neighborhood of 150a.

Single 15 LSQ setup...So many options
johnecon2001 replied to kingsham's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
forget the mag then.. Look at the Soundsplinter RL-p, the Ascendant Audio Arsenal, the SSA Icon and perhaps the Fi Q. All would be excellent choices to consider. Forgive me for pushing our forum vendors on you lol. But they're probably the most suited towards your needs. -
eh.. put them in and see. you haven't told us what car, how old it is or what ohm load everything will be running at. Those all play pretty key factors on whether or not the alt will be able to cope.

Where I'm from, system means anything from a pair of rear 6x9's to a complete overhaul of the vehicle. System was more than one component that wasn't originally on the car. Typically, it was used meaning a pair of subs and an amp. Where you are from sucks. I lol'd

want to upgrade from my two jl 12w6v2 to a Fi Bl15
johnecon2001 replied to Damien02's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
What are you looking to achieve here? When you say you want more, do you mean more volume? Because you'll probably get more volume with the BL's in a ported box, but they won't sound near as good as the W6's. Do what denim suggested and build a ported box for the W6's and see if that cures your bass hunger. If it doesn't and you still want more, orrrr you just want to change your setup, look into the Q instead of the BL. -
What kinda of info interests you?

You should like it here! Enjoy your stay.

You want to be UNIQUE with a Type R or other name brand sub? I doubt that is going to happen... Stay with FI, or better yet. Check out SSA's own ICON. I can all but guarantee you'll be the only on in your city running that. -
Soundstream Amps
johnecon2001 replied to Mathman's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
uhhhh holy crap those are gonna need a lot of juice. maybe you should get the second alt right away instead of later lol. -
sent you paypal for a 15"
-
Everyone raves about the Q's. I should probably try one someday.

I just got an ICON 15" that we'll be building a wallish enclosure in my truck for. I'm ecstatic about it, to say the least. I've seen what these subs can do in person with a street box. Which makes me want to build and SPL box and feed it some real power. I doubt you'll be unhappy with either sub. And I can only speak for the ICON. But it would be sweet to see it in more cars.

where's the one of you guys holding hands?

Need 1600w @ 2 ohms
johnecon2001 replied to Steve91's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
You need around 1.7 to 2 cubes for each sub. Plan on about a 3.5cuft box ported around 32hz. -
I don't see how the cold could hurt them. As long as you slowly dropped the temp and slowly brought it up. If you do it to quick I'd imagine something would crack internally.
-
Keeping the amps cooler is essential to higher numbers. Also just as important is keeping the subs cooler. If the coils go into thermal compression, you're going to lose a lot of deebeez. Someone told me once that he'd seen competitors freeze their subs and hook them up right before the burp to gain that extra edge.
-
concur.

What's your budget like? And do you have an amp yet? Take a look at the package section of the SSA store. Some of the Sundown/ICON combos may be a good fit for you at a reasonable price. If nothing else, you can at least see some general specs on the Soundplinter drivers fuzzyping mentions.
