    Welcome to the IHoP

are ICON's more of a SQ geared driver? -John Technically yes. But Mark and I have been discussing an SPL build with one in my truck. so because I have such limited space in my truck (2.0ft^3) would getting another sub geared more towards SPL really make a difference to the ear? I'm not bored with the sub yet, I've just become more curious reading all these SPL build threads and would like to be able to get decently loud. I know the ICON has pretty respectable stats and great 'sound quality' (sorry Sean, but I don't know how else to describe it) but with the exact same set-up and just switching subs would I even feel/hear results? Not too worried about TL #'s because I don't compete and never plan to with an ext. cab truck. I'm just pondering -John That's really an enclosure dependant question. From what I remember your setup is ported with an aero tube? Other subs may like the enclosure, but its a toss up.

    4 18's in a van ;)

If you've got the skills to build a properly tuned Bandpass enclosure go for it. They're loud as sin when tuned for the right sub. Otherwise they sound god awful. I would just go with a simple ported box.

    Welcome to the IHoP

I wish I could do IB in my truck without having to build a wall in my back half. I'll just have to find something else to use the 17^3ft

Which coil wiring setup should I use?

Yeah, like they said, its not going to matter. There are some extreme cases in SQ comps where wiring them different can do something for your, but in this case.. go with the easiest option as pictured.

    bass race

Definitely upgrade the stocker to something better under the hood. Then do the Big 3. then if you still get voltage drops, look into a high output alt.

    Which to get....?

What are you looking for out of your subs? I'm guessing since you went right to 15's you want a ground pounder, but I could be wrong.. so enlighten us.

    Welcome to the IHoP

yeah? that should be a pretty sweet boat system. Pics of boat too. I'm glad its actually getting some use, it just sat around in my closet until I sold it to you because the system I had designed it around never materialized.

    bass race

Are you allowed to run a beefier stock battery in Bass Race? Depending on what amp you have (thanks for not giving us that info ) a better battery up front may be all you need.
