johnecon2001 replied to luckydogg72's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
While I haven't spent any time looking for info on their amps, I did see pictures of the 3250.1d It looks decently full of components inside, no word on if it does rated power+ or - . RD as a whole get a mixed response from me. Their owner is a bit childish. And that reflects badly upon a company that may have great products. You can read more about RD here. -
Yes....another amp noise problem

Could be lots of things, I would guess a shorted trace on the power supply though. -
Can i bridge my headunit???
johnecon2001 replied to Big Shot's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
No, you cannot. head unit amplifiers are not engineered to be bridged. -
Honestly though, with the 3000D coming close to putting out 8kw all by itself under the right circumstances.. why does he need to build a bigger amp??

Does the sound go away if you unplug the RCAs from the sub amp? If it does.. trace the source backwards. -
Good to see the box bolted down properly!

(Amp Guts) Help with noise **PICS**
johnecon2001 replied to static's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
How will that tell us anything? If the amp makes the noise with the RCA's unplugged, what will putting a filter on the RCA's do for him? I'd guess NOTHING. -
one post.. one. will get your point across. Two.. is considered annoying.

How did you manage to blow up an ICON already? And why not just ask Mark for a recone?

if it still makes noise with the car off, then it's not turning off completely. -
so thaat would be the right wiring even though its says its getting a 2 ohm load in the picture? Correct, the wiring is correct the picture is wrong.
-
I was gonna ask, why you didn't have an ICON in that list.

How to hook up two alternators with different amp outputs?
johnecon2001 replied to patented17's topic in Advanced Discussion
Why not just sell the 180 and buy a bigger one altogether? Would save you a lot of trouble -

Is your amp not turning off with the remote lead? -
Sorry, what I said before is not correct. I didn't realize you had two subs. You need the Dual 1 ohm coils. Wire each sub in series (negative to positive) and then wire the two subs together in parallell. Wire just like that (just ignore the fact that they are DVC2 ohm coils, you need DVC1)

I'm never one to buy things from a dealer, much less let them install it in my car. But if I had to choose between those setups, I would go with the JL/Alpine combo and hope that they don't bend you over and rape you on the price.
-
One dealer selling a large portion of 8" woofers still doesn't mean 8" drivers are popular.
-
You need a DVC 2 ohm sub. Wire both of the positive leads of the voice coil to the positive leads on the amp. Same with the negatives.
-
You gonna clean up the wiring? Only thing I would change is one of the power/ground cables to a different color to tell them apart.
-
LOL. I don't think you'll have a problem hearing the difference of one 15" ICON over the CVR's. You could do the Sundown/ICON combo the shop is offering right now and save a little money.

I talked to Mark about it awhile back. He metioned that the motor was bigger than the basket would be. And also something about 8's not having a huge market share, so for a company just starting out with subwoofers, building an 8 would not be the best investment.
