Sony XM-5046
johnecon2001 replied to donni's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
there's one on ebay for $200 plus $20 shipping. That's a little inflated in my opinion. -
Bad ground cause electric shock?
johnecon2001 replied to lakaiguy's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
hm....... i might do this to my car. would a thread rod lets say 2ft long hammered 1.5ft into the ground work?? The deeper the better. Usually grounding rods are at a minimum of 4ft. You could try it though. -
1000w is going to draw more current than 600w dude. That's pretty easy to understand. Unless it's two separate amps. Then there might be a difference.

a 180-200a alternator should be plenty for you with room to upgrade in the future if you so decide. You should try emailing Nate at Excessive Amperage, or the nice people at Powermaster.

Bad ground cause electric shock?
johnecon2001 replied to lakaiguy's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
It's just a built up charge in the frame of the car. I've seen it happen often before. If you really want to get rid of it you're going to need to discharge the car. Disconnect the battery from the car (negative and positive). Bolt a 4 gauge or thicker cable to the car. Connect the other end to a metal rod (preferably copper). Bury the rod 3/4 of the way under ground. Let the car sit over night (about 8 hours). Most of the charge should be gone, if not all of it. -

I swear I've seen one. But I can't find it now. -
I really doubt if you send the SSD 1600w that i'll last very long. And I'm sure it'll void the warranty. Try the BL.

Come on guys. It's probably been quite a blur for those guys through christmas, new years and now right in the middle of CES. The Fi Shop is only so big, you'll have to be patient until they get back into town/work.

1500w total or to each sub?

Do they not teach Punctuation in school anymore? Jeez..

Only 12's atm. And the price difference is quite large between the two as well.

Am I getting screwed?
johnecon2001 replied to ThomasG's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Maybe you should have done more research on what could be done with the damage that was done to the board. -
He hasn't been on since the 3rd and this was his last post. I'd guess Rusty is at CES.

1st Place trophy for SSA ICON's
johnecon2001 replied to Mark LaFountain's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
Depends on the tune of your box and the resonant frequency of your car, and and and and and. Too many variables. You have a good chance at 140. Execution needs to be damn near perfect though. -
Any CES Processor news?
johnecon2001 replied to cx-7heaven's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'm guessing (not having looked this up) that the Audio comes through the 880 via the Aux input. -
He'll need more than just the big three if he goes with two BTL's and wants to power them to the flexing point of his car.
-
4 18's would definitely be loud with the right box, right amp and good electrical. Perhaps you should start with the supporting gear. Have you done any upgrading so far?
-
one thread in one place.. is all you need.
-
Either a sealed box or one that has an extremely low port. 29hz or so.
-
Umm yeah enough of that. Don't post in this thread if all you want to do is fite. bish.

Megalo Finally Finished Build(for now atleast)
johnecon2001 replied to Megalomaniac's topic in Build Logs
Looks great. Good job man. -
The amount of power each driver gets is entirely dependent on how the manufacturer of your crossover splits the power in that passive set. I highly doubt its a 50/50 split though. Probably closer to 20/80.

you only need one thread bud. We'll delete this one
