    Diving into home audio

    Diving into home audio

I'm wondering how HDMI will be handled in the separates market. I don't know much about it, but I would assume you could swap out the processor for something HDMI-capable without changing amplification? I'm just curious because everyone I've talked to running HDMI in some form is running a receiver, which is just blah to me. There are HDMI switchers available.. but I haven't seen something that takes the video and splits it from the audio (so that the audio would go to the separates). I'm sure someone big like Krell will have or does have something that will do it eventually. I'll ask around though, I'm sure you're not the first person to question HDMI integration with separate pre-amps and Surround amplifiers.

Adire Shiva MK IV (I think)

Yeah go ahead and post a picture or two. I have one Shiva here and two DPL's, so I can compare. It sounds like a burned or frayed tinsel lead just under the spider if you can't see anything wrong above it. Having the sub free-airing it won't excurt as much as in the box. Its probably shorting the tinsel on and off when its in the box.

Should I Buy 2 12" BTLs for SPL

The BXi2607 doesn't put out anywhere near 2600w. Probably shy of 2kW as well.
  9. Cerwin Vega is a famous subwoofer maker. Meaning, they made/make good subs. Not amps.

Are you positive its not the amp? Just because it has 14.4v at the leads because "you have a Cap" doesn't mean the amp isn't cutting in and out. Swap a new amp in if you can and see what happens. You should also retrace all of your connections and make sure everything is solid and connected to the right places. And finally, if you do find out the sub is bad.. I might be able to help with a replacement

Should I Buy 2 12" BTLs for SPL

The you'll want two Sundown SAZ-3000D's if you plan on going that route. One for each BTL. Start thinking about Dual Alternators, or one HUGE one. Which batteries do you have? 4 runs of 1/0awg from the alternator to the Batteries. Then put a buss bar over the top of them in Parallel. Run the grounds from the rear batteries to the front battery with 4 more runs of 1/0awg. Pray that it's enough.

Should I Buy 2 12" BTLs for SPL

Are you competing? Or do you just want to be the loudest guy on the block? Other than amps and subs, you'll need to upgrade your electrical if you even want the system to play for decent periods of time and at a loudness you want. You'll need a High Output alternator and at least one large battery.

    door components

Running new speaker wire will certainly bypass the amp As far as the speakers go, I don't have experience with either of those two.

    door components

If you're getting a new amp along with the components what's the problem? Take out all the factory gear, replace with new gear. You'll need a line out converter (LOC) to go from your Head unit to the new amplifier. Oh, and it would be helpful to know what equipment you're talking about when you post in the future.
