Why would you step down to Type-R's over the Mag? Why not try a new box or a new amp first?

The DMM won't show the clipping, it'll still measure voltage fine. You should be able to hear clipping, unless you've got ears with downs syndrome.

The spider on the ICON loosens up quite a bit. Then it gets really loud and low. Either one will be ok with that power as long as you don't clip it.

You can't wire a DVC1 ohm sub to 1 ohm.

What size sub? BL's come in many sizes. Go measure your trunk and tell us what space you have to work with?

Do you even have enough space? You should check and see. No one can tell you how loud it will or might be. That's physically impossible. It'll be loud though, as long as you build the box right, upgrade your electrical and use a powerful enough amp. Check Youtube for BTL stuff. Or some of the videos in our Gallery here.

The ICON has a stiffer spider than the SSD and includes a 3" Copper Coil already. The ICON also has a triple slug motor where the SSD has a double. There isn't anyway in hell you can bottom an ICON out.
