information on ported and sealed boxes
johnecon2001 replied to jdawgg22's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
It depends on what you like personally. A ported box can "hit" just as fast as a sealed box. and vice versa. -
What money?

Is that a gigantic subwoofer sized hole in your drivers door? Did you do that? What's it for?
-
Sounds like it's just phasing the stereo mix out and letting the abnormalities of a song through. Theoretically, you wouldn't have any cancellation with the fronts because the speakers are already canceling out most of the sound. At least that's how I understand it working. Dunno if judges would like that or not. Depends on how much he/she likes the "cool" factor that day.

Stereo repair man is correct! You can use an isolator when you want to play the stereo with the car off to prevent the stereo from draining the starting batt.

Subwoofer design to achieve LOUD "punchy" bass? (rock music)
johnecon2001 replied to creyc's topic in General Audio
I'd recommend going sealed with it as well. Especially the Mag if you go that route. -
2 12's would better handle the power you have. I'd add the BP power option to be safe as well.

The BTL is made as an SPL competition sub. Since you want to actually listen to music and show off for people, that's why I recommended the BL.

fuse question

This isn't an Fi question. Moving to Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors -
I would go for Fi BL's or SSA ICON's. You don't really need what the BTL will give you, and the Q's (while they sound good) won't get as loud as the BL can.

will 4 300a fuses drop my voltage?
johnecon2001 replied to titodagod's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Unless you're competing on a daily basis, I doubt you'll miss the .5v you're losing. And .5 is being generous, it's probably less than that. -

15's for extended cab truck, SSA, eD, Mach5, AA?
johnecon2001 replied to creyc's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Ben doesnt work at ED anymore(in Newton). That should make you happy. He may pop in from time to time but has left to start a custom home HT company of sorts. Off competing with Chad again no doubt. -
NPdang's SSA ICON 12D2 REVIEW

The ones that are in Mark's SUV are still -
It was a great sub, and the extra terminal for lowering the qts was awesome. It's a shame it's no longer in production.

Fi has all the box specs on their website.

No problem, that looks good!

I think if you're that worried about flipping the wrong switch, you should keep it simple for now and just do 2-way active.
