What does it take to run .5ohms
johnecon2001 replied to bigarsenal's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
It's pretty amplifier dependent, but usually, yes. A lower ohm load will have a higher strain on the electrical system. -
How would it be safer? That Rockford is rated at 1 ohm, and you're running above that in impedance. If you're careful with your gains, those subs will do fine off that power.

Kick ass on MG's but they're expensive. Ohio Generator and Powermaster also provide great alternators.

Not here. We have a forum for this.

Ok so.. what ohm load will you be running them at? -
Welcome to impedance rise.

We're pretty tired of that. So take some time and type correctly please.

Well if you talk to him like you talk to us, good luck in talking him out of buying them.

High output Alts

At what ohm load? -
Motor City Reman has some of the worst alts ever.

Atomic AT-5000.1D and 2 12 btl's

Sell the alt and buy a bigger one? OR use it and get a couple of large batteries like the Powermaster D3100. That capacitor is going to end up being yet another waste of money if you buy it. -
15" Havoc Replacement for TC-3K?
johnecon2001 replied to tljernigan's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
You opened up the can my friend. Woofer size does not correlate to woofer speed or what notes it can or can't hit. It's all box dependent. -
There's really no way around the distortion. Simply put, a onboard camera microphone wasn't built to handle 140dB's+. You might be able to find a camera that can take an external mic and then pic up a microphone better suited to that pressure level (see kick drum microphones). But even then, most of them will be rated to only 120dB.

What do you already have and what ohm load are you running them at? -

What was the reason the Remote wire came undone? -
There are no advantages or downfalls. Car audio is a hobby, if turning your car into an SPL monster is what you want to do, go for it!

Somehow the words "Crappy circuit breaker" and "flea market" set off alarms in my head. Dunno why... -
Get the DVC 2 ohm versions and wire like this:

15" Havoc Replacement for TC-3K?
johnecon2001 replied to tljernigan's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
The Havoc would be good, as would the SSA ICON and the Mach 5 Audio IXL 15.2.2 -
Welcome to me moving your thread to the correct section. Again. C'mon Panky. It's not hard.
