well, after a long strenuous search for a car, i never found anything, i finally sold my car to a dealer for $5500, that was the most i could get out of it. funny how i started selling it at $7500 and i ended up taking $5500 for it. anyway, i took a risk, and got the contour. it is running just fine, idles a little low, but thats all. had a mechanic fix the timing and he did a compression test and he was astounded at how well it did. looking for this car to last me 6 mos. to a year, then i can pick somethin else up. if it blows up, oh well, i screwed up.. anybody know how to fix the low idle? it has brand new plugs and wires and the plugs are spaced right. is there like a throttle cable i could tighten or a butterfly valve i need to open a bit more??

i dont think that by putting the tweeter on the cone makes them coaxials.....the difference between coaxials and components are that it comes with a crossover.....so actually you would want cheap components over expensive coaxials, i think.

so how do you do the rocket one?? put 4 mentos in there and shut the cap??

LMAO <{POST_SNAPBACK}> haha x2 i guess it is possible when coming from a college student, haha.

well i thought some more about it and i dont really NEED a computer right now, i can get by without one. i just decided to wait on buying one for now, and hopefully i can save up some money and get something worth my time that will last me.

so i am in the market for a laptop as i am moving off to college.....and i found a gateway refurb on tigerdirect and it has a 1.7Ghz Centrino processor. i was just wondering how this processor compares to like the Celeron. i know my grandma once had a brand new desktop with a Celeron processor about 3 years back and the thing just sucked, it was terrible. i didnt know if this Centrino was better or if it was kind of a replacement..?

i think that since i am down-grading from my neon, either way i am pretty much going to lose. its just a lose-lose situation and i'm gonna have to cut my losses and move on. i have tried for a month to sell my car, started at $7500 and im now down to $6500 and still nothing. i have only recieved 1 offer, and that was for $5000 cash, not even a real offer. all i can do is pick the car that will last longest and hope it works. oh well, thats life isnt it? just take some risks and hope it works..

well actually, when we went to the dealership to talk to them, they had taken it to the shop to replace everything except the power steering pump. the salesman told me once they were done with that, the price would go up $1000, so i told them to stop, and i said i could fix all that for $500, so what the dealer did, they aren't going to fix it, and rather than me paying $1000 extra for them to fix it, they took off $500, they can either take that off the price, or literally write me a $500 check to have those things fixed, and i can do it. they are selling the truck for $2300, so there isnt a whole lot more that i can do to get the price down, its worth $4500.

i could go for that, i could probably go with a dual 8" setup for $70, and that includes the price of the box i'd have to make, and that would be max, probably could be done for less..

ahhhh, great minds think alike only question i had is if the Rl-i would fit.... i've had a ranger before, but i can't remember what my max mounting depth was.... i wont be able to pick that up right away, i'll need to save, but i thought about gettin a Mach 5 10" to hold me off, im curious about these subs..

ok, just got back from the dealer a little bit ago, and he shot me a pretty dang good deal. after the trade in of my car, the loan was going to be $1400...he just dropped that to $890 because it needs a new windshield, new brake pads, new ball joints, and new tires. he is throwing in a new windshield, but nothing else. everything else seems to work great, except it makes a weird whining noise which sounds like possibly the power steering pump, but i am having a mechanic check it out tomorrow so i will know for sure then. so possiblility of me getting a 1999 single cab ranger is looking pretty good it is single cab, so that means bye bye to the 13Ov.2 and hello...possibly an 8" sub....

budget is $400-$450 max... i have looked around all kinds of web-sites and all kinds of classifieds in forums and i can't come up with anything... right now i can get a brand new Dell desktop that is reallly good for $500, so i want to stay below that, cuz im gettin a used laptop...
-
haha, i know i know...i dont really want to buy a refurb either but at this point in time with as little cash as i have, and also, having access to school computers and not needing anything major, so for now, it will do. it will have to... i dont think i am going to get it anyway, i found a friend of mine who is selling a dell inspiron 5100 with a pentium 4 2.66Ghz, 512MB RAM, and a 60GB HD and i can get it for $400. anything goes wrong with it, i can fix it. once i have some money.....here i come tigerdirect and newegg to build my own computer, and do it right!
-
i understand now so back to the basic question, is it good? i would assume the chip set is good but i see you say that it still uses a celeron processor...did they get all the bugs worked out of the celeron processor? is it a good processor?
-
agreed definitely i still can't decide what im going to do....hopefully after more shopping around, i'll come up with more options..
-
no, i dont have $6000... i am having zero luck with selling my car, been trying for about a month now, and im also having zero luck finding a job, and been trying at that for about a month as well... if i can get $6000 out of my car, i will have $1600, because my payoff is $4400, and i can't afford a loan, so i will have $1600 to buy a new car.. the bad part is, my car is worth about $7000-$7500 and i can't even get $6500 out of it... im kind of in a pickle

just went and test drove the contour.. its a really nice car, interior and exterior are better than average for that many miles. there are 2 dents in the whole car, about the size of a dime, and the spoiler is oxidized, but the rest of the paint is fine. drives really nice, power windows all roll down and up quickly, a/c works great, cruise is working.... its actually a nice little car, only thing that needs done to it is a new windshield which isnt that bad, just one crack down the center of it. i almost want to get it, just because assuming i sell my car for at least $6000, i can pay cash for it and have liability insurance.. just that 242k miles scares me....
-
can't seem to find one that either fits in my price range or is close enough to me, i can't drive cross country to pick it up.... i wouldnt mind a quick little 2 dr. 5spd 1st gen tho...

i believe mountaineerman over at caraudio.com does a lot of TL's and everyone has had success with his designs.

i have a CRX style box in my trunk and the port is 1.5" x 29" and i have zero port noise, you might be alright. i am running a 13Ov.2 with only 400 watts so that could make a difference too...
-
what enclosure do you have them in??
-
well, SS recommends that the Rl-P 15 is good for 1.5 cube to 2.5 cube sealed enclosures, with 2.1 cubes being the best for a flat response that goes low. so i would say, with 1.5 cubes and tons of polyfil, you could get that up to 1.9 cubes, so i would say you would be fine.
-
who knows, i think its because they are all blacked out, which btw looks awesome. im sure they will hit pretty hard.

are those 12's? they kinda look like 10's....

what about that one on ICIX....? i think its called a Ural CDD i think its a foreign thing, and i think its only like $900, but that thing looks rediculously awesome. EDIT: its only $650 thru ICIX, MSRP is $700 http://www.uralcdd.com/
