Minimum power for an ixl-18 for ht

Hey would you be able to put a vid up on youtube of that, I've looked everywhere i can on the internet and not 1 person has a vid of an IXL 12"....would of thought there'd be a few on youtube just like the Icons and Fi Q's but nope...BTW I should get my IXL 12" tommorow, cant wait to use it with my Sundown 1200D, I may be the first to have a vid on youtube, that I know of anyway!
  2. I've just got this sub and at first was very disappointed with it and the lack of output and low end bass it produces, it is in a sealed box BTW, so I thought ok, it need to wear it in.... so I've now had it running for roughly about 4 or 5 hours in total this week. It seems to be a bit better but still sounds just crap and pathetic with poor low end...especially considering its worth a lot more than my previous 8" sub My previous 8" sub picked up lows very well and had pretty good output for a $40Au ($30 approx USD) sub, I'd prefer it over this monster double stacked motored Rockford Fosgate It just isnt right and distorts really easy and the old cheap sub just puts it to absolute shame, its cleaner, picks up lows and only $30 or so... Might I also add that the new sub is much stiffer than the old one that's one reason that made me automatically think of the wear in period for the RF sub, but its just soo much worse and I really cant see it as normal even though its not broken-in..I really dont think they would sell such a initially crap sounding sub that is meant to be so good......IDK, ive gotten to the point of loosing my mind completely with this new sub i cant even type this thread properly its just soooo crap!!! ahgggg Old Sub: http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?I...mp;SUBCATID=396 Rockford Fosgate sub: http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/pr...S&p_status= I'll just add, now that I thought of it how they sound different, the old one has a nice mellow low rumbling sound and the rf sub has a more show car sound to it that play crappy techno music, but even worse this sub distots before its even moving as much as it can
  3. Yes true true, I was looking before at the12v.com about cable lenghts and amps and wattages and stuff...http://www.the12volt.com/info/recwirsz.asp would it be ok if the 4 gauge wire was 19.5 Inches long, is that short enough?
  4. The amp has 5x30amp fuses, so what type of cables and fuse should i use....I'm thinking 2 gauge cable from batt to distribution block and 4 gauge from block to amp what fuses should i use?....the dude at the local stereo shop said the amp will not actually pull 150amps and said i would only need a 120amp block and i think it had 2 60amp fuses in parallel or something like that IDK and what should i use near the batt, the same?

  6. I havn't got access to a nice quality camera....The excursion looks a bit different in real-life on the camera its like it has less in and out movement but i does look cool on the camera, so I dont know how it will be, sound also i dont know, guess i could give it a try
  7. Ok thanks for the help everyone I have a rough idea on what I'm going to do..... Battery--------2 gauge wire (with at least 150amp fuse, I'll try and get 160-180amp fuse)--------Digital Distro block (150amp)-------2 gauge wire (or 4 gauge if can handle tad more than 150a)--------Amp, sound right? would use 4 gauge on that last bit of wire but I dont like the idea of 150amps being the max that should be run through 4 gauge wire, I want a bit of headroom...so what do you reackon.... safe
  8. Yeah thats sounds like another option, I do want to see my voltages though
  9. Ok what I'm trying to say is what fuse should i use on the cable near the battery and what fuse rating distribution block should i use? Sorry "thefordmccord" what you said makes sense now, at the time I was confused () on what you were saying!
  10. Ok thanks for the input, good information...think I'll use 2 gauge wire and 160amp fuse or something 150 min....so, if I'm running 2gauge to dist block from batt and say 4 gauge to amp from the block, what size distribution block should i use? 120amp, 150 ect. does it matter if the blocks made up of 2 fuses that equal the total amount eg. 2x 80amps = 160amp total? thanks for any input, greatly appreciated!!!
  11. Nope just going to run the 1 sundown amp with 1 sub @1ohmDamn 200amp, jesus thats alot lol
  12. Ok what I'm trying to say is what fuse should i use on the cable near the battery and what fuse rating distribution block should i use?
  13. home theater active sub plate amp running at 4ohms series 80wrms roughly and its stable at 4ohms as I've written in above reply polarity is correct crossover is set right down which to me sounds best on this amp....and yeah same settings, same songs comparing subs
  14. Width: 17.7inch Height: 11.8inch Depth: 7.08inch Wood Thickness (18mm, 3/4inch) Volume: 0.54 cubic feet without sub installed about 80wrms which I know would cause the distortion on the rockford fosgate very easily but It just doesnt hit low and It doesnt actually distort any more as I turn it up from the point it starts distorting and it doesnt sound like a clipping distortion it sounds like the sub is just not capable as i have had it connected to a 12" 400wrms sub and I can definately tell what the clipping sounds like and it gets worse very quickly as you turn it up... Also yes the box for the rockford fosgate is almost 2x recommended sealed box size, but if I made it smaller wouldn't that make it play even higher tuning? I did try adding a few blocks of wood inside about prob .1 cubic foots worth, secured obvcourse and still no improvement plus sub is prob .8 cubic foot displacement at least so ATM it will be 0.36cubic foot after sub and wood blocks which is ok and as i said no improvement still lacks output and lows...lol and also it should be louder considering its running @4ohms as opposed to 8ohms on other sub, and the amp can handle 4ohms because thats what the kenwood runs at perfectly and sound damn nice, well compared to these 8" subs also if it affects a good quality sub so much then how come the crappy $30 sub sounds so great with and without those wood blocks which didnt really change the sound of the old sub, prob a bit worse on low end now as im just listening to black tee by gucci mane right now the beats a bit worse Look im not trying to prove you wrong or dissagree with you or anything, I'm just saying exactly whats happening and wondering why i have such results Maybe it just does have to be worn in much more hmmm..... maybe it works better in ported boxes thanks for any imput though, anything!!!

    IXL Dustcaps

lol silly question but do the IXL series (12" to be more specific) have mach5 printed on the dust caps? Cant remember where, but I've seen pictures of the IXL's without mach5 written, on the internet On your official website it is printed on there except the 15" & 18" so just want confirmation, also do you send out stickers when purchasing your subs?
