Can someone recommend a decent program that tells me what Hz bass is contained in song? Preferably freeware I've looked at a few through google searches but they either don't tell me the Hz accurately, say the wrong Hz or dont make sense eg. Spectra Scope / oscillometerxz / Graphic Equalizer 09 / SpectraPlus any help appreciated!!
-
ohh and even more thanks, coz now i can work out what to tune my box to to be able to play songs that i listen to mostly
-
pucking maaad...thanks its working perfectly.....interesting seeing what hz are in different songs......Sooooo many songs to look at now, gonna have a ball now!!
-
thanks that looks better, just concentrate on the spikes aye?....lol i almost had it
-
Ok, I've just had a look at it....could you tell me how exactly i can tell what the lowest Hz is contained in a song All i can find is: 1. Highlight a part of the song 2. Go to "Analyze" tab & click "Plot Spectrum" which opens up a "frequency analysis" window 3. out of those 4 drop down boxes change the one that says by default "512" to at least "2048" so it can show frequency's down to 22hz now i change that "512" to any other higher number and the lowest Hz it can analyze always shows the highest...so changing "512" to" 4096" it says there is 11Hz in the song at higher levels than any other Hz.....the song i am analyzing has not got any 11Hz in it for sure... I think i might have found a way that seems more realistic but still fails to seem accurate because it doesn't show some Hz's drops in songs use the cursor along the graph, go all the way to the left and find "Peak" reading when moving cursor is that right?

Oh ok, cool....i have actually heard of that program before but didn't know exactly what it did.....only heard it sometimes can make a song into an instrumental Thanks I'll try it I

I love that pic, looks MAD!
-
Oh damn, well, thanks for the honesty....how can i make sure that problem will not happen? just keep it as far away as possible from the sub?, put rubber feet underneath and mount it to 3/4" MDF (Was going to mount to MDF anyway, but add rubber feet?) will that really make a difference at all you reckon.....

"overall higher quality throughout based on what we learned from the v.1 model" what did you learn from the previous one? what were its faults, I'm interested now.....damn wished I'd waited another 6 months to get the newer one...daammn!

I've just opened up the tummy of my amp and discovered that one of the coils or inductors are touching one of the fuse legs, is that anything to worry about? and uhhh hope i havnt just got rid of my warranty?? ehh.....prob doesnt matter anyway because it will be over a years time from purchase that i may actually use it lol... I'll post a pic in a sec!!
-
yeah thats true i guess, i does say on packaging "Tested" so it has to be ok...well i bent the leg away anyway so even more safe!!! my mind is at rest now..thank you!!
-
yep thats it, only the one you circled was making contact, the other was like 3mm off....I've bent the leg away to the right, just enough for no contact (the leg that you cirlced) and so it should be ok..But do you reckon if i didn't happen to be curious, open it and notice, that it would of blown up or something? it is - / + of a fuse which is pretty major and will have current going through it....and so if another component with current going through it is making contact with a fuse that i assume is pretty bad and would cause the whole lot to short and / or blow up somewhat But as i said I've sorta fixed it so its ok "NOW" !!

I did do square inches didn't I? 4" / 101.6mm | 12.5664 Inches <--------- I assumed people know what i meant when i said inches...or cross-sectional area.....= Square inches, just slang Math is good dood, checked out a couple of the values. No worries with the inches, just pointing it out to be sure you got it right KK sweet as!!

Hello SSA, since I've had nothing to contribute on these forums for over 6 months now, its time to post something usefull when i actually can post something usefull....just recetly I've figured out how to work out the cross-Sectional area of a circle lol, thanks to my boss (Surveyor)...so these figures are quite accurate, they are based of Pi being 3.1416 which is close enought to what it really is!!!! PORT SIZE | Cross-Section Area --------------------------------------------------------------- 1" / 25.4mm | 0.7854 inches 2" / 50.8mm | 3.1416 Inches 3" / 76.19mm | 7.0686 Inches 4" / 101.6mm | 12.5664 Inches 5" / 127mm | 19. 635 Inches 6" / 152.3mm | 28.2744 Inches 7" / 177.7mm | 38.4846 Inches 8" / 203.2mm | 50.2656 Inches 9" / 228.6mm | 63.6174 Inches 10" / 254mm | 78.54 Inches 2x 3" Ports | 14.1372 Inches 2x 4" Ports | 25.1328 Inches 2x 6" Ports | 56.5488 Inches 3x 3" Ports | 21.2058 Inches 3x 4" Ports | 37.6992 Inches 3x 6" Ports | 84.8232 Inches

Thanks, The specs are:1.869 Cubic ft. - .16-.2 [cubic ft. for sub] / 31.53 Hz So prob 1.66 cubic ft. / 32 or 32.5 Hz Width: 24 inch Height: 14.5 inch Depth: 15 inch Port Width: 1.8 inch Port Length 1: 12.45 inch Port Length 2: 14 inch Square Port Area: 23.4 There must be alot of cancellation or something because it doesn't pick up as low as i thought it would that's why I want to add corner pieces and hopefully it might make it more accurate sounding too less delay (ms) Putting the stuffing in there just transforms it heaps better and it sounds cleaner and picks up better on the lows quite noticeably and sounds more like a 32hz tuned box, people say you don't need stuffing for big ported boxes but IMO it makes a big difference and everyone should just try it and see if it sounds different..for me it seems to pick up alot better on the lows and it sounds cleaner and less peaky on different sounds, without it it sounds quite bad to me but that's just personal opinion though i guess... I'd actually like to get a box made by fisher customs or something that would be awesome!
-
Still need to add some corner pieces, only just added port corner piece yesterday after using the box for 2 months now lol...lazy:
-
lol, they are crooked aren't they, I didn't really notice it that much before, I'll try and get them straight next time
-
thanks, bit messy with the caulk though

Wow thats got me wondering about my Mach5 IXL 12"...I'm sure that driver is an exception, it will be quite good right?
-
Hey would you be able to put a vid up on youtube of that, I've looked everywhere i can on the internet and not 1 person has a vid of an IXL 12"....would of thought there'd be a few on youtube just like the Icons and Fi Q's but nope...BTW I should get my IXL 12" tommorow, cant wait to use it with my Sundown 1200D, I may be the first to have a vid on youtube, that I know of anyway! Nope. Video's are 1000% useless in showing you what anything can do. Really easy to get a sub to do what you want and then film it. If you are interested in the sub, you can read my review and ask me questions but I won't post any useless videos. If I am shortsighted and there is something you would truly garner from the video, please educate me but I am dubious to say the least. Na na not to judge it, just wanted to see a vid of one cause i like watching the different vids on youtube of Fi Q's and what not but doesn't worry me really just would be cool to see that theres actually a vid on the internet, I thought these subs would of been quite popular like SSA's, RE AA, IA ect. I'm getting an IXL 12" in 2 days but then only got a 80wrms home theatre plate amp to play around with it until i get a car....but yeah never mind!
