2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V: Project Spec-SQ
ANeonRider replied to ANeonRider's topic in Build Logs
Noticed it the most playing Kos- The Rain & Mirror in The Sky. I'm just downloading those links you gave me, and going to play some more. -
Add your location in the title... I know of a couple members in the area, but I don't want to speak for them.
-
I'm sure we have a member closer to you than I that can help out. Shipping over the border makes it a touch expensive
-
Location? Driver? Sound desire? Space Available?
-
Exactly the stuff I was looking for. Thanks Neil.
-
signed up on OINK... what test CDs do you use Sean?
-
I won't ever understand why more people don't do IB subwoofer installs.... and I don't know why I was unsure of doing it myself.

Completely done the IB install for the Exodus Audio XJ15 & it is playing off of the PDX1.600... one word. WOW. Whomever says that IB installs are sloppy or not loud enough isn't installing it right or using the wrong driver, because this thing is much much much louder than any other subwoofer I have used in this car, and so accurate it makes me giggle. Best part is I can scale it back & I can't even tell the subwoofer is behind me. Using time correction, I was able to make it seem like the kick drum was behind the vocalist! Anyways... pictures? No camera at home, bro took it (and it is raining again)... so I'll get some tomorrow. -
What are you looking for?

Thoughts on a dashboard material...
ANeonRider replied to DevilDriver's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
I'd go with a mixture of vinyl & suede. Suede on the areas that will experience more reflections (like closer to the pillars, by the windhshield) & vinyl for the hand touching areas (nearest to the passengers). Unfortunately you will have to fork out some $$ for some good materials, as the sun will cause anything mediocere to fade fast. I paid $23/yard for my man-made suede, but I am not sure it could handle direct sunlight all that well without a test. -
Shit, forgot... I'll do that after work.

Huh, deeper than sealed? I figure I should clarify what Sean means here. Ported enclosures have a very steep high pass filter associated with them after the tuning frequency. In some of our worlds, deep = below 30Hz, nearing inaudible, while most consider it deep when it is in the 30-40 cycle range. A sealed enclosure for all intensive purposes will extend lower & more controlled at the lowest frequencies. The advantage/disadvantage to porting is that you get that theoretical +3dB bump in output, while losing that control & low frequency extension. I can model a ported vs. sealed later today if you are a visual kinda person.
-
Really makes no difference, it would be easier to do common chamber, because the port length will be pretty long.
-
Sean (///M5) has a single one ported, which he seems to like. I'll have to see if I can find the enclosure specifics, or he can chime in... then we can hatch out a design.

Ahh, that would make more sense.

Likely the same band of storm cells. And likewise, no rain for almost 3 months, then this...
-
We had 8 inches of rain here Fri/Sat, both storms lasted probably 6 hours of the most intense ligtning I have seen in a long time and another big storm coming. Nuts.
-
Can't use a 10" basket to make a 12" sub anyways...
-
I have a weird popping happening when I increase the volume... effin grounds.
-
My fingers are sore from deadening yesterday.
-
Sure nice having a trunk again too.
-
Got the IB install done yesterday... need to clean up some wiring before I take any pictures. Initial thoughts... just running off the 4.100 bridged... why was I worried about output? And my trunk rattles like mad, but at least I can't hear it in the cabin now that the whole trunk is sealed off.

Allows you to tune the Q if you feel so inclined

FUUCK... another huge storm. Street is a river again. Basement watch is on...
