Take the door panel off... and measure it.

wavelength @ Fs = 48ft. 1/4 wave is 12ft, pretty tall. Can be reduced using fill. From what I understand, you will want the Area of the opening of the sonotube to ~ equal the Sd of the subwoofer correct?
-
I'd like to keep the footprint small, that being said, I can go tall, since this will be moved out of my bedroom into the living room that has a vaulted ceiling soon.
-
LOL. I don't know if I have that kind of space Jim haha. Maybe a Sonotube TL derivative.

Ok guys, I'd like your input on what subwoofer enclosures I should try for the following 10" subwoofer: Some of the specs are: Fs: 23.3 Hz Qms: 5.35 Qes: 0.35 VAS: 36.6L Xmax: 22mm I am going to try it in a 0.75ft^3 sealed enclosure. Ported enclosure would be nice to try, but since this is for HT ONLY, getting a tuning low enough for my preference turns the port length into a headache, unless I make the enclosure more critically damped, or reduce port area (and I don't want any port noise!). Thoughts?

I was alluding to that you might want a thermal barrier between the garage & your room, due to the colder temperatures during the winter months. I did figure the walls were really thick lol. Europeans build their houses to last, unlike us foolish friends in North America

Might have something to do with something you sell huh

You *could* get away with a pretty shallow roll off on the crossover using the HDS, since it can play quite low, especially since you are mating them with the CA's, which have great midrange ability & do not exhibit cone breakup like its metal cone cousins. So, you could possibly cross them at 4k @ -6dB, with a simple capacitor on the tweeter & ~2-2.5k @ -6dB with an inductor on the CA. of course, this would need to be tweaked by some critical listening to get right. As for the IB question, I don't believe it should be that much of a problem. Maybe build the baffle in the garage, with the subwoofer firing into your room, with an insulation barrier between them (the room & the subwoofer). Could make a "wall" using fabric & stuff the "wall" with insulation. You shouldn't experience any low end output loss, keep condensation to a minimum and you won't introduce a leak into your room for cold air to get in during the colder months either.

Robert Goulet passed away yesterday. GOULET!

The Peerless 2" full range driver might be interesting to try then http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_i...roducts_id=8267 http://www.madisound.com/catalog/PDF/830970.pdf

You would need even less room if you chose a smaller driver, like the Aurasound NS-3, or Fostex's 3" full ranger. Footprint is small, height is not.

Wood case, nice touch.

I agree with Sean... tires are #1, then work on suspension.
-
Cones aren't making the noise, that is the suspension of the subwoofer that is making mechanical noise.

Ya, I have been talking about getting one for a while now. Maybe I'll just pay more & get it done quicker.
-
I'd be willing to make the trip. But, as of Jan. 1 we'll need passports. I should get on that!
-
It's not the frequencies above... its the ones below that you should be concerned with. But, whatever, don't listen, do what you want, and please, leave. I would very happy if you did.

Word, I'll have to come for a visit once you & the w are settled.

I forgot to add that I had modified the original plan, so here is the final dimensions of the BIBs Internal dimensions Height: 68" So: 36.5" Width: 4.75" Depth: 7.25" A,B,C: 3 5/8" Sm: ~34.5 in^2

You might find some like minded co-workers in Saskatoon, where free thinking is a touch more common, at least among the under 30 group within the crowns.

Exactly! After the debate on Tuesday, it will be very clear whom will be forming government, if the voters actually get out there. Wall is such a great speaker, he is going to eat Lord Culvert up. Every time I go out to Alberta, all I hear from my uncles is that whenever the government changes here, we are going to experience an economic boom like we've never seen before, and not just in minerals & oil. Frankly, most big business wants nothing to do with our current government. The oil industry even hasn't been doing what it could, but with oil around $90/barrel, they don't care anymore. The people who I see really want change are the young people that stuck around, mainly the 19-35 demographic. They just have to get out and vote, or the will of the retired majority will win again.

Glad to see some people from Regina do think for themselves You even work for a crown too! LOL. Gotta love the fear mongering the unions & NDP are doing eh. P.S. I am a huge Sask Party supporter, and sat at the main table with Brad Wall at a luncheon last week. Working nearly every night for the last 10 days of the campaign for one of the candidates up here. Unfortunately, it is going to take a lot of time to fix this mess. :|

Knee replacement that he has been waiting 3 years for.
