ND isn't bad, especially with the 80mph speed limit. Get through pretty quick.

IB is the best of both worlds.
-
Both the IXL-12 Sean has & the IXL-10 I have are pre-production units. Once Mark receives the production drivers, I imagine the specifications will be listed.

I need a sub that will hit loud and low in an IB setup.
ANeonRider replied to bmr4life's topic in Test 1, 2, 3...
Depends on the definition of loud too... I've metered @ 136dB @ 30Hz legal w/ a TL, which is plenty loud in my books. -
Need to get to writing a review of the IXL-10 tonight. I also need to get some rubber feet for my enclosure, it likes to walk across the room when I get it moving.

Can tell how much of this I actually read now D310 does control the H701, it is exactly what I use.
-
Pretty hefty budget then. H701 is ~$450, C701 controller is ~$200-250. Depends if you can get a good used or not. H701 will also allow for any upgrades, since it is very very flexible. ID mini horns & Pro Audio Midbasses would do the trick I imagine. I'm not too familiar with brands, nor have I listened to any of the choices out there, so I cannot offer a suggestion there. Someone else can fill in that blank. Benefit of going high sensitivity is the reduction of amplifier power needs. You won't need much power at all to make pro audio stuff really sing in a closed enviroment like a vehicle.

Wouldn't touch the Brutus series it if it was given to me. -
The epic battle of SPL vs SQ continues.

Ding ding ding.

Question... budget? Without a ballpark number, we don't know what to advise\recommend you to use.

Yesterday for lunch I made some baked fillet of salmon with a brown sugar BBQ glaze, a side of sliced red potatoes & green, yellow & red peppers with a light coating of olive oil and roasted garlic & peppers spice. Fucking delicious.

Focal does not necessarily mean SQ... personally, I do not care for any of the Focal products, overpriced, and do not treat my ears well. But, they do market them very well. If I had the scratch, I'd really enjoy having both a W7 & W6, very very nice sounding subwoofers. I still don't understand the whole concept of SQ not being loud... its all in how the system AS A WHOLE performs & articulates the sound. This includes the installation of the products, methods to calm resonance in the vehicle and most importantly, the user's ability to dial the system in to get the very most out of it (which can be said for both SQ & SPL goals). I didn't spend the uber dollars when I put together my system, but it gets loud enough to impress any person that has had a listen thus far (right Sean?)... and I can hit the old SPL measurement test that was part of SQ competitions in years previous with my single 15 and ~350W if I felt the need to. Hell, I spend ~$15 each on my midranges, ~$20 each on my tweeters & ~$80 each on my midbass! Just because someone is using big money components doesn't mean they do know what they are doing... ask Ramos. As for the original topic that started this... nothing out there will "keep" up with 4 Q's in the very literal sense of the word. If the OP wants to just hear the words, efficient Pro Audio drivers are the key... or turn the bass down while cruising, someday you will need your ears for something, like life. Not like you can't turn them up while competing or at a show, right? Way too much misinformed opinions and misuse of terms in here for me, so this will be the last time I post in this discussion.

The new model of Aquos is so much better, I heart mine.

Truth. Is prime supposed to drop again shortly? Stealership thinks they are competitive at 8% but I can do 5% at the bank. Hope it drops a little bit more. Hopefully I can get a grille and a set of wheels/tires for the summer and winter tires out of the deal. Forget 'hopefully' ... I'll be walking if I don't get what I want. US Fed Reserve is rumoured to drop their rate by a full percentage point today. We will have to follow suit, because if we don't our prime rate will be 2% higher, which would put even more pressure on the manufacturing sector. Fine by me, every loan I have is on a floating interest rate right now.

Quick update. Dad had his aneurysm clipped yesterday, we were told a 4 hour procedure, but took 7 hours. He was pretty much out of it when we say him late last night, but he remembered my youngest brother had a hockey game that night, and all of our names. He still has some swelling in his brain from the surgery, but this morning the swelling & his speech was better, although it isn't making much sense still. He had full strength in his hands & feet this morning, so very good news. Just wait and see how he recovers over the next few days.
-
p.s. thanks guys.
-
Yep, very well could be. Haven't heard when he'll get in for surgery, and glad the stroke wasn't a major one. Still, he isn't out of the woods yet.
-
Not a good day. Dad had a stroke this afternoon & when they did their thing to find the source of bleeding on his brain, they found an aneurysm. He's in good condition right now waiting for surgery. I'm sitting in a hotel room in Ottawa waiting for a 6am flight into Regina.

Designing a 3 way front stage.
ANeonRider replied to kickerlivinloud's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Can't think of any processors under $250, unless you can find a used H701/C701 combo or two Rockford 3SIXTY.1's for cheap. -

Budget? -
Not too sure, I'm gone so much that I might not be able to swing it. If I can, I won't know for at least another 90 days or so.
