Looks like the Chaintech AV-710 is discontinued now ... have to look around & see what other options there are for inexpensive sound cards.

cold air intake, tornado fuel saver, k&n air filter
ANeonRider replied to jonbearsmt's topic in Automotive and Performance
Not always the case, what about when its not hot outside? Pavement still gets warm enough to warm the air above it without the sun shining. All I am saying is that lower isn't necessarily better (or cooler). No need to go lower than 12" from the pavement (saying this because I too often see these intakes that are much too close to the road surface). Really what you should be concerned with is your intake systems resonant frequency, both the intake manifold & intake tube. -

Pavement... gets really hot under that sun & heats the air. -

Ya... length. Intake tube length & diameter is the same as tuning a port for an enclosure. Tuning of the intake "pulses" is actually much more important than the temperature of the air being ingested. 9/10 the air over top of the pavement is just as hot as the air in the your engine bay anyways. What you really want is to have the intake pick up its air from a high pressure area within the chassis of the vehicle. -

Colder air might be denser, but the cfm's of airflow are not any higher. The benefit of colder air is that the intake charge is cooler, allowing for a more complete fuel burn. Tornado junk just adds detrimental turbulence to the incoming air. The only place you want any sort of turbulence is right at the injector to help atomize the fuel at low rpms. K&N filters allow more air, but at the same time filter less. This means you'll need to change your oil more often, and check the intake system for buildup. -
Not really... well, not around here anyways. Everyone wants them, but are not willing to pay for it.

12V battery? Overcharging can cause some problems.

Find a pair of the old Audiocontrol EQT equalizer. -
Well, I'm moving on May 1, and want to finish the towers for the new place. Suggestions??

Well, I know a way to get more control & midbass from them. How is your deadening on the doors? -
werd. Go home finally on Friday, been away for 3 weeks.

Over $5 for 92, which my Spec V likes, or it will ping when its warm.

I would kill for gas that was only 3.42 a gallon. Currently 3.72 a gallon for regular in NY Almost $5 here...

I'm with Dave 100%.

Local forum dumbass is trying to tell me kitty hair is as strong as proper fibreglass.

It is doing that because batteries will slide back to 12V when they are not being charged, since the trickle charge is designed not to overcharge, it shuts off... then turns on again because the battery voltage has dropped.

Right now, I'll just let everyone know exactly what I told Mark previous to him sending the final specifications to the buildhouse. I am in love with this driver Mark. Low frequency authourity during movies is very good and blends extremely well with my BIB CSS FR125S drivers (completely transparent). It suits my listening habits very well. I have only tried it in a sealed enclosure, but I do not feel I would gain anything for my own personal tastes going with a vented enclosure. Power handling wise, I don't think I could approach the driver's limits with what I have (1300W @ 4 ohms), the driver is a beast. I wouldn't hesitate to say that it would be one of the best SQ 10s I have heard to date. No overhang, no bloating on the lower notes (even if I am using a larger enclosure for a 10" driver @ 1.1ft^3). So transparent, sometimes I have to check to see if its on! I think you have another winner here Mark. Now, as some of you know, my home theatre configuration is as follows: DIY Class A/B amplifier, with an output of 46W RMS into 8 ohms CSS FR125S in a BIB enclosure (http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=11940&st=30) Keiga KGND52100 1200W@4ohms plate amp IXL10 10" in the 1.1ft^3 Now, since the midbass & overall response is excellent from the FR125S drivers in the BIB enclosure, and this was in a HT configuration in a large room, I could get away with a larger sealed enclosure so that: a) I could match the output of the BIBs with a very strong low end (15-55Hz). b) Have extreme impact while watching movies c) Test the subwoofers control And, as you read above, the IXL did all three of my criteria EXTREMELY well. Since I am currently 3600km away from home until May 2, once I get back home, I will sit down in front of the system & do more critical listening & post my thoughts.

You'll want a stiff suspension (Vas/Cms), Higher QTS (greater than 0.4 is fine, closer to 0.7 is said to be "better"), and lots of throw or cone area & a low Fs (sub 25Hz). Since this is an Altima, I know a 15" will fit up under the rear deck.

All over 5 bucks. What a fat pizza bitch.

I would be, actually, I'd be looking at integrating something Pro Audio in a 10" if you are willing to do the work to get them in there.
