can someone please help me with my gain?
ANeonRider replied to Slumpin's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Just wondering. -
what shuts amps down besides remote?
ANeonRider replied to Slumpin's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Yep, ever try to suck a golf ball through a straw? Same idea. High current + higher wire resitance = Voltage drop across wire like mad, and with that could come melting wire/fire from the power dissipated on the wire. voltage = current X resistance btw -

yep, need 1/0 or at the very least 2ga. I would also upgrade that fuse to be sized to 95% of the current carrying capacity of the wire. -

I don't run either, deck or amp, and don't recommend to run any either, but all my opinion. Music sounds better when you don't add filler to it that wasn't there in the first place. -

Is your voltage dropping without the subs hooked up? IMO, any bass boost is detremental to sound, but, as much boosting as you were giving it would not sound good at all. -

Should have no trouble getting the voltage you need without all those boosts... -

Yes, set the sub level to the maximum. -

V = sqrt(1200W * 1ohm) = 34.64V -
Old, and and my roomate has the new. I just like how the Soundsplinter sounds more.

I don't see Palmiero... EDIT: He was playing that game I wish I had a baseball team closer than Minnesota...

I have run both the Type R and now the Soundspinter. I loved the Type R, but the Soundsplinter is the better of the two IMO.

Check out the link in my sig.

The Type X crossovers are wonderful pieces. I love the adjustability that they provide for the different install possibilities.

Smart man. I just had an interesting discussion with a very intelligent industry person on how marketing is taking over. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I too agree with that... which is why I will never work in the industry, and always support companies that provide function/fashion

It is AC voltage, which means polarity of the output voltage really doesn't matter in this case. -
IS that a stamped steel basket I see?
-
Just remove the sub, and double/triple/quadruple check the seams. Use fibreglass resin if you are that concerned.

err, me too.

Surround sound? As in 5.1/6.1? http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/item_i...gory=&p_main=10 Not spending much isn't really an option when you get into 5.1, and you kind of need a DVD player to do it (DVD Audio mmmmmmm).

Urban myth it is not, is very dependant on the gap... but I would NEVER do it.

big difference in power blocks?
ANeonRider replied to Slumpin's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
mini wafer? Talking about ANL? Here is what you should refer to for sizing fuses. Look at the Power & Ground Cable Specs table. It is length dependant, but this is a good guide. http://www.the12volt.com/info/recwirsz.asp Fuse at the battery for the current carrying capacity of the wire. I usually fuse at 10-15% below the spec listed. -

IMO, a fuse block is a fuse block. Pretty difficult to fudge up two pieces of metal with a fuse attached between them. Yes, you can connect 8ga. wire in a 4ga. set screw connection, just make sure the wire is centered, and tight. Also check out Knukonceptz -
DO NOT push on the cone... you can wreck the subwoofer. To prevent leaks, make sure all seams are tight and siliconed, etc. You need to pull out the box to find a leak... you can tape a piece of paper near the seams, and run the sub, if the paper blows upwards, then there is a leak.

12" RL-p, 1.21cu. ft box sealed, amp settings?
ANeonRider replied to beejohn's topic in SoundSplinter
It does help to set the correct gain. This what you have? http://www.midwestelectronics.com/product_...products_id/140 Other than the gain, I would set everything like this: LP Filter: 72Hz LP Slope: -24dB/oct Subsonic filter: OFF Phase: 0 And to set the gain... Read the gain setting tutorial, and adjust the gain setting on the amp until it is the closest to the voltage it should be.
