    My New Ride!!!!

Thanks! I will be making a project log once I tear into her. I think Sunday I will be swapping my coilover suspension onto it, and the stock suspension from it onto the green car, otherwise known as Goober.

    My Winter Project

It is a................ 1997 Dodge Neon Sport Coupe... Project Darkness Plans: Suspension Image Performance Products Stage Two Coilovers 350 lbs/in 7" front springs 325 lbs/in 7" rear springs 16x7 lightweight wheels, still deciding Prothane Suspension Bushings full kit Bent Rear Trailing Arms (allows for wider rims with more offset) Powdercoated suspension parts Camber Plates Upgraded Sway Bars Strut Bars Exterior Re-tint all windows in 35% Custom front grille Lowered approx 2.75" Remove side molding Shave antenna Paint cleanup, fix small spots of surface rust & scratches Roll fenders/fender flares Drivetrain SRT4 turbo & manifold Vibrant 20x7x3.25 intercooler JE 8.8:1 .020 Pistons Eagle Rods Clutchmasters Stage 4 4-punk clutch DSM BOV Walbro Fuel Pump w/return line mod Full Standalone MegasquirtV3 Intercooler piping SRT-4 Stage 0 Injectors Aeromotive 1:1 Regulator LSD & upgraded axles Wideband O2 Lorenzo Fuel Rail Booger Bushings/Bobble. No expectation when this will be complete, only hoping to be able to drive it with the fully built engine by August.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Idiots drive every type of vehicle out there... some are more obvious than others.... Sleeper style I am, no body kits, stock spoiler... only body mod I may do is fender flares & rims, but those will be completely functional.

    Welcome to the IHoP

True, it is, but, it is ALL highway travel, no stop and go gridlock here, for having passed the safety here in the last year, and new tranny & clutch, plus, I have a full rebuilt suspension, and forged engine parts ready to be installed, it will be basically a new car, especially with the freaking interior... not a speck of dirt ANYWHERE.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Gotta like the deal. How quick does it become when you build it up? Staying naturally aspirated? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=4732# With the DOHC instead, the compression ratio will be 8.8:1 not 9.2:1. No longer would need to swap the tranny, I can sell my $350 SOHC to DOHC adapter plate, and don't need to swap to the 97-99 gas tank to fit the high flow fuel pump.

    Welcome to the IHoP

May have picked myself up another Neon.... 97 DOHC 5spd Sport Coupe, 2 door, black, barely any rock chips, never saw one dent, new tranny, new 02, safetied a year ago, new balljoints, tires, interior looks like it came off the damn showroom, small crack in the windshield, runs great, immaculate condition, about 241,000km (~150,000 miles) which is a little high, but I don't care, since I will rebuild it with my forged internals anyways. Market value around here is ~$5500-6000 CDN. Price I negotiated... $3275. Seriously, a deal and a half, and wow, was it ever clean looking. Will know if it is mine tomorrow

    A little riddle

I am sure this is all over the internet by now, but, let's see what people know here A plane is standing on a runway that can move (some sort of band conveyer). The plane moves in one direction, while the conveyer moves in the opposite direction. This conveyer has a control system that tracks the plane speed and tunes the speed of the conveyer to be exactly the same (but in opposite direction). The question is: Will the plane take off or not? Will it be able to run up and take off? I know the answer, do you?

    Canadiens... wtf, eh?

Just a bunch of kids in a playbox, with only one toy to play with.... I don't even want to talk about politics. Let's say this, I don't trust one of them, nor have they done anything to make me even consider otherwise. Also, FYI, this means we are having an election on Jan. 23rd. Beauty of the Canadian political system is that you do not have a minimum amount of time in office. If you lose the confidence of a majority of the members of the House of Commons, an election can be forced, as it just was.

    A little riddle

There is Ground Radar systems as well... Cops use radar to catch you speeding. The plane is indeed moving in respect to ground, it has to, it will not create lift if it doesn't.

    A little riddle

I never hosted it, so I think its better to host it yourself.

    A little riddle

They plane is stationary compared to a spectator/radar/flight tower/etc <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nope, the plane is moving, and everyone would see it doing so, at the same rate as it would without the conveyor. Read the link Dennis The conveyor would not increase or decrease the length of runway needed.

    A little riddle

The wheels are just a medium for the plane to get to a destination on the ground, they provide no acceleration, only weight bearing in a take-off scenario, read the hovercraft example in the link, same idea, just more friction (which everyday, thousands of planes overcome, I watch them at work). The force that acts on the plane to accelerate it is the thrust provided by the propultion of the air from the prop or jet engine. The tires are just along for the ride until the airspeed has reached the level to provide lift. If there is a conveyor underneath the tires, it will do nothing more (besides a slight increase in the friction on the wheels because of friction, which is pretty much neglible) than turn the wheels faster, the weight of the plane does not increase, therefore, the plane is not slowed down any. The plane continues to accelerate, even if its ground speed is increasing, since the tires have no ability to slow it down, unless the brakes are applied.

    A little riddle

It doesn't matter, just putting it in perspective... The conveyor really does not matter at all, the friction on the wheel bearings will increase slightly because of the speed at which the wheels are turning, but, will not stop the plane from taking off.

    A little riddle

    Steve, your right
  19. ANeonRider

    A little riddle

If the conveyor moved forward, the wheels would spin at 1/2 of the speed that the plane is travelling. So, using my example, if the plane was travelling 150mph, the wheels would be travelling at 75mph, and the plane would still get enough speed to provide itself with lift.

    A little riddle

Supa & Dennis have the idea.... This is the answer someone else gave me on neons.org: Bingo! A great vector diagram, complete with illustrations someone has made: Any airplane (that is not extremely overloaded) can overcome its own force of weight & friction, mute point. They do it everyday, I watch them. If the plane is not moving forward... then is the conveyor moving backwards to counteract the forward motion? This riddle is worded like crap, which is why it is a riddle. Speed means that something is moving, without speed, the conveyor does not move, and if the conveyor moves, then that means the plane is moving. If the wheels were actually driving the plane, then it would not move, but that is not the case. The engines use Newton's Second Law to provide thrust, and the wheels are freewheeling (not frictionless, or weightless, but still freewheeling) over the conveyor at twice the "air speed" of the airplane. Even a prop plane will be able to take off, because it too uses the air to propel itself to the point where lift takes over. Sooo, if the plane is moving at 150mph down a conveyor runway, that means that the wheels are turning at 300mph, because the conveyor is turning at 150mph in the opposite direction, and the plane lifts off into the blue yonder. Here is something that is on an aviation news forum: http://www.avweb.com/news/columns/191034-1.html If you still disagree, don't fret, a guy I know with a Physics Degree seems to not be able to grasp this either. Imagine putting a rocket booster on your back, with rollerskates, on a conveyor trying to match your speed. If the rollers on the skates don't disinegrate first, the conveyor won't do a thing to slow you down. The friction of the rollers on the conveyor, nor the friction of the bearings, or the force of your weight downwards will have any effect that will be noticeable to that rocket on your back.
