i have many subs and like to play around swapping stuff in and out constantly, but my GCON 15 seems to find its way back into the car more often than anything else

if you're going to lose the use of the back seats anyway why not just remove them. Once the seat is gone there will be a number of very solid mounting points where the seat was bolted in.

gss replied to Mark LaFountain's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
Very cool, any chance we will see more ToolMaker products in the SSA store? -
A line out converter (LOC) connected to the factory subwoofer wiring will work fine, I do it all the time.

Exactly what I was thinking, I have absolutely no use for this but I still want it.

Sound deadener that lost it's adhesive quality
gss replied to probillygun's topic in Sound Deadening
Try using a heat gun or a propane torch, it should get sticky again once you heat it up. -
Can a bratha get some vids of the evil subs?!?

What advantage would a free air video bring? Specs tell the true story and will never lie. **cough**Skar**cough** -

Completely Lost is all that comes to mind!!!

1.5 ohm, they are 3ohm coils -
it doesn't quite work like that. You've got 50sq.in. of port area, you could break that up into two ports that are 2.5 x 10 if you want but you cant change the length, so they would still have to be 24" each. If you were planning on doing two ports 5 x 10 x 12 you would end up with 100sq.in. port area, 12" long. This would change your tuning to 54Hz . It would also probably leave you with subs unloading and smashing coils on the back plate because of too much port area.
-
in the first one you entered in the desired net volume, when you do this it leaves the net volume at whatever you entered and ignores the dimensions. Lower right corner. you should also increase your port area

too expensive from JL, I only have a box for one 10" in the car and I have three more of these so no panic. Just figured if i could recone it for a reasonable price it would be better that just tossing it.
-
So I have a JL Audio 10W3v3-2 and it was making a weird scratching noise. Completely random, would happen at any volume and would come and go with no real reason, sometimes it wouldn't do it for days, sometimes it would happen many times a day. I took it out of the box looking for some explanation and could see nothing, so it cut it open. The only thing that looked a little off was what looked like some corrosion on the coil itself. So now I have the motor and basket just laying around and it seems a shame to just toss it. Does anyone make a recone other than JL that will work??

Is the CLARION APA4400G a rebadged Mcintosh amp?
gss replied to jrod1050's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Great amp. I sold Clarion when these were new and ran one in my own car, good sounding amp with good output. As for reliability, I don't remember ever having one back in for warranty. Not sure about the MacIntosh thing, I've heard that rumor also, time frame fits. -
It would be nice to know the dimensions of the port. With the dimensions listed gross volume would be 0.86 cu.ft. assuming the use of 3/4" MDF. That would also make the port 9" high and it says 40" long, the only unknown then is the width. If it is 1" wide you would end up with .51 net after port and woofer displacement, tuned to 33Hz with 9 sq. inches of port. Not really big enough but that's with alot of guessing.
-
I put your measurements in the torres calculator and came up with .84cu ft gross. After port displacement it is .71 tuned to 38.57Hz and once you add woofer displacement tuning is going to end up over 40Hz

I just put an SA-8v.1 in my car and was very impressed, this is just mental
