How did you break a basket?????? Dropped it? I want pictures of this And to answer your question i would PM mark becasue if anyone has a SPL basket i think it would be the company....
-
Look really nice, now where are the pictures of the box in the car? As i read the thread i got really worried when the power tool was posted becasue if you cant measure you boot first you shouldnt be allowed to use power tools... But it looks like it turned out really well

MDF is cheap so i say go for it And if you do not like the sound you can simply plug the ports, the MJ should sound great in 3.5 sealed.

I cannot wait to see what Thumpper does with these :bigclap: Hope they are all ready on there way... And dont keep us waiting Thumpper we need build pics and also numbers ASAP (I know they arn't SPL subs but look at the numbers Thumpper got from the Icons) Hats of to SSA yet again -
Cant help but wonder where this thread is going, only a matter of time before someone starts bringing crap over from CA
-
Yep count me in on that too SSA is an amazing company and the forums are also amazing and i would be prepaired to contribute.... Keep up the great work Mark and Aaron and everyone else who makes SSA what it is

Is it worth mucking around with? I dont know about the states but you can get a nice 24 inch screen here in Australia for about $300 which is about 180ish US right? So why not just upgrade your screen?

Did he ever give the guy back his money? I didnt think he did....

Thanks for the advice guys, my origional plan had way to much port so i will go back to the drawing board and try to design something that will allow me to change the tuning of the Box so i can experiment
-
I remember reading somewhere about the relationship between a box's port area and potential output. The reason i ask is i have been looking at the IXL drivers from Mach 5 and in order to tune low in such small boxes the port needs to be quite large in order to avoid port noise. I was looking at a 2cf box with a fairly large port (roughly 50 inches) my question is will such a large port casue a loss in output? i was looking at tuning at 30Hz for a daily setup that would hammer out the lows. Is there a general rule of thumb regarding port size compaired with box volume? Could someone point me in the right direction (i haved tried to search) I was hoping some of the experienced guys could give me some advice
-
oh but we do..... could make for a very interesting thread
-
Is he? I guess after what happened on CA i kinda feel for you though..... Did you learn anything from that? And nice score btw
-
So if your ports are larger then you will lose output? I am interested to hear more becasue i have noticed SPL guys seem to run really large ports. The main problem i am having is building a box for the IXL's which is tuned low enough with a port then will not chuff. Currently im looking at 2Cf with a port that is 12 inches by 4 inches and roughly 60 inches long according to WinISD this is a cross area of 47 inches Is a 1st port resonance of 120Hz too low? Thanks for any help guys

Welcome to the best car audio forum on the net....

OK what would you have done 29Hz on DOWN
a1161979 replied to kryptonitewhite's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Providing you have the space why not an IXL18, more displacement than the MJ, awesome driver for what mark sell them for... Sounds like you have enough volume and 600watts should be more then enough with low tuning -
Looks very interesting, i know little about clamshells or the benefits they offer but they seem kinda like hybrid horns that you see in PA cabs Im looking forward to seeing a build log, and that picture is sick
-
Is that a flared port? kind of looks like a hole with polyfill stuffed in it from the picture Or an unpainted PVC pipe which has been used as a port...

Depending on your budget i would have alook at this... I know its not DIY but i decided to buy one becasue for this little i doubt you can make better, the cost of a 10 driver amp etc etc will be more and besides for dorm use with music as a priority i think it should be perfect, i would like to see a better DIY Music sub for $230 http://www.zzounds.com/item--BEHB2092A and another review (although bad) can be found here http://www.tcmagazine.com/articles.php?act...1&pagenum=1 you get quiet a lot for your money to, it weighs 73lbs and is 24.4x12.8x22.9 with two 8 inch drivers. The amplifier is way over rated but i figure even if its only 100watts RMS considering the options it has it is still very good value for money I am going to write a detailed review of mine here in the next week or so...

Sub for Small Sealed Enclosure and Lower Power
a1161979 replied to tsheehan7's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Dont forget to look at the Mach 5 IXL 12 and even 10, they are great subwoofers -
Ahh that makes more sense, i will have to see what shipping is like to Australia, im sure it will be worth it considering the small and expensive choice of amplifiers that are available here... Thanks for the fast response, just out of interest what is the shipping weight? SSA list it as 1 pound with clearly is not right
-
How come USA only? Im just interested becasue even with the currency as it is this is a steal for me in Australia, how come the sale does not apply to international customers? Can i still get one on sale through SSA and then simply pay international shipping on top? If you would rather not post the answer PM me Thanks and great job Sundown
-
That needs to be fixed, with that amp you want to make sure your electrical is up to scratch and that is not good enough
-
I dont know why i bother to post this but... Great work as always thumpper I always though the CSS CDX were more HT orientated? Regardless that is an awesome box, hopefully the owner will provide some photos of the driver in the box becasue im really interested in the CSS CDX 15
