Audible Customs * Free Enclosure* Review
Solid_State13 replied to Sir-Lancelot's topic in Test 1, 2, 3...
that box looks awesome, great work. I'm sure it will sound awesome -
thats the sundown 2 channel amp http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/zencart...p;products_id=4 it will put out 200 per channel at 2 ohms, so 100 per component set. I assume you are talking about a template for a box, that should be really easy if you post up the dimensions you have to work with

Thumppers Ford Windstar Ground Pounder
Solid_State13 replied to Thumpper's topic in Pound That Sound
man, those doors look really good X2, cant wait to see this thing -
are you doing 2 sets of components up front, or one front, one back? a lot of guys just run front mids and highs. Can you build the box yourself? a sealed box should be pretty easy to do, and you can do it for way less than 190. Also, those type R's will take a lot more than 300 watts each. for amps, you could get a Sundown SAZ 1000D new for $350 and a SAX125.2 new for $200, which if you built your own box would end up being less money for some awesome amps. Although you wont have any fade control for the components, it won't be a big deal if you run them all up front
-
that would be better than buying a recone, selling ur current amp and then buying a bigger amp for both of em
-
that 12 looks like it wants to kill someone
-
you are going to need a lot of speakers to be able to drown out 2 15" Q's that are right behind your head. Your best bet is probably to get one or two component sets that can handle a bit of power, give all the power they need, and then turn your subs down to match them

aq1200d question
Solid_State13 replied to Johnnymgl's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
or he could put the time in to learn how it works and then be able to use all the features his amp came with -
needs an audio system to match the driving performance

Loudest,clearest,and best speakers
Solid_State13 replied to lamchop_8's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
While it would be impossible to say that those are the 2 best mainstream brands. Of those two, my guess is that rockfords would be louder. they have a very slight efficiency advantage and are rated for more power. if you really want loud, buy an amp that will run active and use a PA woofer and a horn tweet on each side -
looks really cool man, what made you decide to the port like that over a regular port or aeros
-
You probably won't have to worry too much about running out of Xmax at 16Hz, there is almost no content that low and the amp is only rated at that power down to 22Hz, so it will probably drop off below that. If you have the room, go with that big enclosure tuned there or maybe a little higher. If you just listen to the sub you will probably be able to tell if its bottoming out, then you can just turn it down
-
I would think that 2 15's would need a considerably different box than 2 12's. plus if you are giving out box dimensions, you should probably include port length and/or tuning
-
i would personally just use wooden dowels spanning the inside of the box. You could also use 45's in the corners or make window frame bracing.

Why do you all love 10" subs ?
Solid_State13 replied to Notorious97200's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I agree with all of you guys who said its more fun to impress people with smaller subs. Plus running a single 10 or pair of 8's gives you more room to play with more creative enclosures -
I want to try the Volcano out, I'm still a newb to vaps. nice, looks fun
-
if your goal is affordable, then stick with a single woofer setup. The size depends on how much room you have and whether you want to go sealed or ported. If you are on a tighter budget, I would go for the Mach 5 or Fi SSd (or DC, not sure how much that one costs). You will probably be happy with either and they will save you some money compared to the others, which you can then put into a better amp or electrical upgrades
-
just look at the RMS ratings of the amps for each ohm load and divide by 2 (like for the rockford, look at the output bridged into 4 ohms, and obviously the sundown at 1 ohm) I think both of those amps are underrated, so maybe a little bit more. so about 250 watts per sub with the rockford and 600 with the sundown

New system sounds like crap. help
Solid_State13 replied to AirFramerMack's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
I would think with all the effort it would take to modify that box to make it better, he might as well build an ideal one from scratch -
dont do dual 2 ohm, the impedance won't work out to what you need
-
sounds like a good plan to me in the first one you are essentially making two 8 ohm subs and wiring them in parallel the second, you are making two 2 ohm subs and wiring them in parallel
-
usually facing the back works best for a trunk bracing will probably be a more effective use of wood than doubling up the entire enclosure
-
how bout something like http://www.woofersetc.com/p6840/DSC2150-MB...t-Amplifier.htm or http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17653_...s+ZXi+6010.html and it was mentioned earlier, but make sure to check out the required box size before you go out and buy amps

That would be awesome, an 8" with 90+dB sensitivity.... :slayer:
