agreed. There are a lot of variables that come into play. an enclosure that looks flat in modeling software will most likely be far from flat when put into a car

ok, thats y i asked questions before i did anything. thanks for the info

Thumppers Ford Windstar Ground Pounder
Solid_State13 replied to Thumpper's topic in Pound That Sound
jeez man... you are really going to destroy that van sweet enclosure, but i think a keg would have been better to get an idea of the size -
had to read that a couple of times to c what you were saying. commas are your friend
-
pretty much the same, except for 200 ounces of magnet and 1/2" in coil diameter

as for setting up the amp correctly, there are guides on this site that you can read and then you shouldn't have any problems doing it yourself. As for building a box, as long as you have a solid design, you should have no problem building it yourself and it should work fine. I built my first box not too long ago, having essentially no fabrication experience (I had driven nails and cut 2x4's, but not much more). I used my friend's table saw and made a box, that wasn't exactly pretty, but it worked great. . If you don't have access to a table saw, you can have home depot or lowes do all the cutting for you, and if the guy's nice he won't bother charging you for the cuts. There are also box building tutorials you can look at for more help. and if you are gonna do it yourself, i would recommend a couple of these http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/disp...Itemnumber=1852 woulda made things alot easier had I known about these before

DC Audio 10" lvl 4 or Mach5audio IXL 10.2.2
Solid_State13 replied to 4X4AUTIGER's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
goals? the Mach 5 is geared more towards sound quality, while the lvl4 is geared more to get loud -
are you givin those the full power of the AQ 1200? or are the gains set low?

anyone have designs for an 06 silverado under back seat?
Solid_State13 replied to Mark LaFountain's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
nice timing -
you will probably be really pleased with either. no one really has anything bad to say about any driver from either company
-
glad to see ur finally happy with the setup, looks sweet

X2, an ideal ported enclosure with an SSD or Q should get u pretty loud. there arent many people with systems where i live, so most people are really impressed with my 2 10's sealed off of 250 watts. making jaws drop is a matter of the audience IMO

What would you rather have?
Solid_State13 replied to AirFramerMack's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
you should probably build a box that just takes up most of the space -
yea, or look around to find someone with an old style for sale

Tuned that low, i would think that the Xcons would be more at home

Why do you all love 10" subs ?
Solid_State13 replied to Notorious97200's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
lol, i would probably drop that argument with M5, he knows what he is talking about. I mean you can bicker about which sub is the best, but cone size does not dictate "tightness". I'm sure the aurasound 18 sounds pretty damn good -
I've used them in numerous installs and never had any noise issue. In fact, I've used the cheapest RCAs known to man and never had a noise issue. Same here. I don't buy into high end cable bullchit. A twisted pair sheilding is usually good enough to block out any unwanted noise. I'd be more worried about bad grounds or connections. And anyone in car audio that says differently is an idiot. sounds like we have a big fan of monster cable How so? The aforementioned statements are testament to the lunacy that is Monster. lol, sarcasm

should i sell the aq 1200d
Solid_State13 replied to Johnnymgl's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
haha, that sounds like a great deal, if you could get 300 from him: wait a week and get a sundown 1500 instead of an audioque 1200 -
you said these are going in a trailblazer, right? so if you aren't set on one sub, multiple subs will most likely get louder on a given power ---->SDC2.5's but that gets more expensive
-
lol, i think that spongebob will scare little kids
-
you could always mock up a cardboard box of the volume ur looking for, to give you a visual as to how big you need to make the enclosure
-
Ugly is LOUD... i should probably let it known that i need to recone these subs and this is purely for laughs... then that rig should be doin 175.XX

New system sounds like crap. help
Solid_State13 replied to AirFramerMack's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication

But the Q's would be able to put out a lot more output down low, which those cheaper subs definitely won't be able to do. But like M5 said, the BL is Fi's lower powered SPL sub, which would be more along the lines of the HDC3
