u r joking right ... throw that POS cheap iPods things away ... and there is not a ton of BASS comin out of them ... but its pretty solid response frome the LOWs to the HIGHs .... (i didnt get good BASS from the original ear-pads so i changed them with some from Sonys earbuds .... like 20% "better" bass response) ... i think they r still like 59$ from DD ... my DDs

...u want to break it in ...right ? ...so just take a heavy(depends on the size of the sub) hammer and hit it one time (be careful that u dont miss ... you could damage the basket) ...and there u go .... its fully broken in

....it sure isnt the subs its your installation ...and as the Subs r rated @ 600Wrms ...and on the Crapxonics they see ... each around 400Wrms <---but they should still slam ... just double---triple check everythin or your electrical just cant keep up .. ;)
