Lanzar..... I know I know
holley2346 replied to holley2346's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Yeah I've already purchased one of those $200 sax 50.4's and I love it..... they seem highly under rated. The reason I'm going for high wattage is that I'd like some headroom, I'd also like to give these selenium drivers a good work out. I purchased 4 just to play with since I have no experience with them and they have such great reviews. Hopefully a few more will be added to this build. I figured I'd fill the doors up since I have to build fiberglass door panels anyway. They'll arrive next week, and I will hook them up to my 50.4 to see if that would be sufficient or not. -

If I don't go with Sundown I already am sure of the crossover choice. I'm just asking for cheap amp recommendations. -

Please elaborate / provide suggestions. If I don't go the sundown route, I'd like to stay under 100 bucks for at least 100 watts rms @ 4 ohms. Since the crossover will cost ~75. -

I know you get what you buy...... I love sundown so much I'm just torn in two on which way to go. This kind of build is far different than what I'm used to. I already made the mistake of spending a good sum of money for quality midbass drivers and horns. Hopefully they will last a while -
Your gains are likely set incorrectly, I'll let someone else inform you on how to set them correctly as I wouldn't be the best person to answer that question. Get a DMM and put it on the positive and negative leads on each coil. If the resistance is extremely high you will need a recone for sure.

WOW! My BTL has been through plenty of short bursts of hell from incorrect amp settings and has never let me down. You must of been sending some serious clipped power to this thing, mine takes ~3000 watts daily and has never had any problems.

I've made many order from parts express and love their service. I definitely would of purchased from them if I would of known before I made this order, especially since parts express was cheaper! Never the less "digital photo club" has many mixed reviews about being a scam company and getting additional CC charges weeks after receiving your order..... of course me always wanting everything the next day ordered everything in a few minutes using google shopping (god I love google checkout). After submitting a claim for a refund to google checkout, photo club replied to all my emails and notified me that my order had been shipped just right before they received my emails (what a coincidence!). We will see how it goes. I'm really excited to hear these little woofers. :) All they need now is a SA 100.4 and a headunit. (these will be used with a couple of eminence horns). All of this is going into a mud riding truck.... 1974 jeep j10.

I bought a few of these for a single cab truck build from Digital Photo Club. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this company.... madisound has already shipped my horns out, and yet after 2 days I haven't even received an order confirmation from "digital photo club". If anyone has any input I'd appreciate it. Also, if this doesn't work out.... what would be a good company to order selenium loudspeakers from? Thanks!

Hybrid Car Charging System with Audio Setup
holley2346 replied to Lucky 76's topic in Advanced Discussion
I am pretty sure I read somewhere that the hybrid tahoe has a ~250 lb battery under the second row seats. I don't know about the sepcs of the batt, but I'm sure it would be a great power source for many high power amps. I'd much rather spend ~3,000 for a triple alt setup and a bank of batts instead of 50k+ for a hybrid hoe though. -
Your really making me want to try that out.... I used standard drywall screws even for my BTL, and they worked fine and didn't get pushed out / moved. That was with a double baffle*
-
I would like to clarify that at low output levels, the BTL sounds fairly well. It's definitely not what you'd put in an sq setup, but it sounds good
-
You would take advantage of the amps power output much better by reducing the load to 2 ohms.

yea I know what you mean man. my area isn't he greatest either. bu I'm actually starting to meet a lot of people who are into this. mainly from New England SPL. but I'm hoping to join up even though I'm a ways from everybody and get it going around here. everyone in my school envys my equipment even though they have no clue on it. but they all want to know what I have. and when it's not a w7 or otherainstream stuff they're mind boggled lol. but I can see myself spreading the word very well for any company I use. especially sundown. so I figured I see how I can be an actual part of the team. and be a part of something Agreed completely....
-
I was also wondering what the perks would be, but since I'm not geographically close to anyone I don't see the point if this is a physical team, with physical meets.... which is sort of the definition of a team huh? Wish I lived in a more audio active state
-
It's not much of a pressing issue since everything is staying in one place for now. I will shoot you one when I do though, thanks for your continued support.

so its decisions time, sundown or AQ

Sundown Audio. Amps that come from DB-R are just as good as new, and B stock means that there may be a few scratches / defects cosmetically. I personally love my 3000D and they continue to put out great power at lower than optimal voltages. edit: If you don't buy that thing from DB-R, it will be arriving at my door in about 4 weeks. -
I also need a remote wire screw for my 3000d, it's pretty close to being stripped.

Some clarification about Sundown Amps
holley2346 posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
This is from another thread.... Was looking for some clarification, or some words of assurance from Jacob. I personally love Sundown Products, and don't want people to be steered away by false information. I'm not saying that "smgreen20" is not legitimate, just asking for some official info. Thanks -
The BL motors handle 1500 watts very well in a large box. Just be smart about it, and it'll last forever. Edit: Well that is, until you think about how you want that extra punch and get a BTL :)

having problems with system
holley2346 replied to [email protected]'s topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
My sax 50.4 did this a day or so after installation. Turns out that one of the runs of speaker wire had come loose and was shorting out. I'm sure you've checked this, but just saying.....
