by flared ports, are you meaning aero ports??? port noise, turbulence, and in a case like mine, aero's are garbage I only think they any good for sompeting a hatch back, I like my large boxes with stupid slot ports LOL... I would do the 2-15's they will sound insane. I dont really PERSONALLY like the sx subs, I would take the cash and run, but quite honestly it all depends on what worx best for you

you could do the vertical bracing, layer the face as you said, and put some ready rod type deal in box to help suck it in, keep from flexing....
