so i just got my BTL 12 and it seems to my eye anyways that the magnet is the same size as the basket, how hard was it to mount into the box? I will eventually find this out my self, but i figure why not ask...

a good bit of information here!!! +1 for the find.

so a buddy of mine have been having this argument for a while. He just bought 3 18" BTL's and asked me how long should i break them in for and i told him no time, they will break in as you play them. just bang on them from the day you get them. and he doesnt believe me and he said well how about I bang on them like you say and if the suspension rips you pay for the recones? I said you got a deal, but i get to set the amps. lol. high subsonic filter, just above box tuning is what i will do. lol. did i make a mistake saying that i will take the bet? would anyone else take this bet? maybe if the owners of Fi chimed in with any results they have in the matter would make some people believe that it truly is a "myth", or that you really do need to "break" them in.

the rest of the box specs would be very helpfull.

Box design suggestions? Two sundown z15's
antonmiller replied to akrod2as's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
I would have kept it symmetrical but put some wave guides behind the port. just my thought. -
oh and i peaked at 41 hz. also the loudest "song" that i have in my arsenal for DB score.

bme click? maybe... works good for me in bass race.

Wire Help
antonmiller replied to SaxMan's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
so 1000$ for the whole build? and you spent about 300 on the sub correct? so that leaves 700$ for amp, wiring, box and anything else you may need. so a nice expensive amp is out of the question... but you could still get the aq1200 ( Audioque: Amps: AQ1200D ) for 250$ and have plenty of power for the bl. and if you got all welding wire that would save some money as well. ( www.weldingsupply.com - main menu ) these are my recommendations. if you get the aq make sure you get the d2 BL. and you can always get rca's on ebay and use almost any type of wire for a remote. if you order welding cable just make sure to remember that its gauge is smaller than car audio gauge, so like 2 gauge is smaller than car audio 2 gauge. and 2/0 is more like car audio's 1/0. i would also invest in a good battery. i dont know too much about batteries so i wont recommend any. just my .02$ -
it was me... lol. welcome and dont forget to post that question about your box. make sure to have your measurements...

very nice numbers!! looks like i will have some competition with my single 12" BTL. lol. im not building for competition tho.

this! and if it werent made in china or korea, you would be paying RF prices... or even more. and as far as quality goes, i work with china made parts daily, it takes them a little bit to get what you want right away (laungauge barrier) but once they get, its spot on from there on out, so consistant its rediculus! and for the best quality go to japan...

nope, im going to a 12" BTL. i couldnt be happier with the turn out of my single 12" BL on the rockford fosgate 1500. i just love it. but after about 1 year of listening to it you always need more! lol

my bl took 1500 wrms daily for a long time, i increased the power to 1800 wrms about 4 month ago, and im not sure if i like the results. these things can take some power for sure! only heats up a little bit on 47+hz notes. but that could be multiple things.

Hi all, I have 2 boxes that ive built and i am in the process of testing. ->build log here<- they both have the same interior volume and tuning and all that good stuff. so the internal volume is about 2.45 cuft with a tuning of ~34 hz with about 40 sq inches of port each. now i had a box that was 2.5 cu ft tuned to 34 hz with 39 sq inches of port and didnt get much overexcursion. so heres my problem. on low notes like 28-34 hz the sub barely moves and creates ALOT of sound, im very shocked by this. but when you get to like 36-40 hz the sub reaches its limits of excursion and anything above 40 its just bottom out city! im very scared about this because in the original box i built for the sub (when i dint know much about boxes) never did this! and bassically the only difference is that there is a little more port area and that its a kerfed port. i first thought, well maybe the suspension is just toast, but all the spiders seem to be in tacked, there is no coil rub, the sub is in very good condition, just very VERY loose when you push on it. just kind of need some ideas. the sub is the Fi BL and the amp is the Rockford Fosgate T1500-1BD rated for 1800 wrms at 1 ohm and im giving the sub a clean signal from the amp set with an oscope plenty of times, and yes i checked the signal and it is still clean. and the amp is set with 0db tones and set right before clipping all the way up the hz range. just not sure what is causing this over excursion.... maybe i should just buy a BTL and see if it does the same thing... Basically just looking for any insight into how or why it would be doing this. thanks for reading it as i know i went a little long on the explination. but more info is better than none. oh and the reason why im confused is that i thought if you played frequencies below tuning hat you would get crazy excursion, my case is that if you play anything above tuning you get crazy excursion. just dont get it... Thanks, Anton Miller

Hi All, Im in the market for a good EQ for my car. I want to control as much as possible without breaking the bank. im no where near sure what makes an EQ good or what a good price for one is. bassically i want to control the subwoofers frequencies. like from 25 to 80. im not sure if there is an EQ out there that has that capability, so thats why im posting. let me know. thanks, Anton Miller
