looking good i want to learn how to do kick pods one of these days check out www.fiberglassforums.com there are great how-to's there. Between this site and that site, I've pretty much learned how to do them.

Yea, I've thought about it. Maybe even putting the front down a bit to match the back.

Ok, very small update. Got the trim rings for the Mids installed into the kick forms and started glassing them on for support. The passenger kick I need to just aim it a little higher, so I'm pulling that one right now and will glass it on again today. Once I like the aim, I'll attach the tweeter rings to the mids rings and get ready to wrap them. Also, ordered 4 Powermaster d925 batteries for the spare tire well.

    So....... about my day

Oh man, thats good stuff. Reminded me of a time that I actually did shut someone up one time when they were on the phone in the chitter at work. Not quite as gargantuan and sloppy as that story, but the foghorn fart that started it off ended the call similarly. thank you, still laughing my ass off !!!

    Sae-1200d power

Yes, do the big 3, factory wiring sucks. What other amps are you going to run? Anything for the highs?

Thanks !! Although the fit perfectly, the rings for the 6.5's came out too thin. The tweeter rings are fine, but I'm going to make new rings for the mids tomorrow, put the kick forms in the car and then get the rings aimed and glued in.

Well, time for the speaker trim rings. I followed Steve's How To on making Trim Rings, man was that helpful. Only thing I wish I did better was leave a wider lip on the outside of the 6.5" rings, but I think they will be ok once they are glassed, and they will be more efficient on space. I drew up some plans so I knew what cuts to make. Ghetto drawing FTW !! Jasper Jig FTMFW !! Man I love these things, it feels like I'm cheating or something. I did one ring by itself as a test since this is my first time. Perfect fit, it actually snaps on to the speaker and stays there. Porter Cable Shop Vac Attachment, no dust bunnies up my nose !!! I had my respirator handy, but I didn't need it at all. Here it is on the speaker, a Tang Band W6-1721 Midbass/Midrange driver. The mids, tweets and their new rings. The mids and tweets. Seas Neo Tweets with their new mounts Backs of the tweeter rings The aftermath.

Did some cutting, grinding and sanding on the forms. Then I layed some mat to fill in the holes I ground out, tomorrow I'll lay a final layer of mat for the forms. Hopefully after I do that tomorrow I'll have time to cut speaker rings. After I get the rings mounted in the forms, I'll do a final trim on the form then attempting wrapping

I thought about doing that as well, but I'd kick myself if I was off on my measurments and missed the mark !!! We will see, it is an option. And thanks for the compliments !!!

I'm always in the market for some helpful advice, thank you. I will put more glass where the dowels attach to the walls. Its the same scenario for all of them, the ends are glued to the walls (top, bottom, front, back and sides). I'll chop up some mat and try to mash it all around the joint.

    Getting Hired !!!

Looks like I'm finally going to be rejoining the ranks of the working !! They are Fedex'ing me a form to go get a drug test, then they make me a formal offer !!!! Looks like I'll finally be able to order my Alpine HU

No, still got laid off though. I was a Senior Network Engineer at a Broker Dealer, been out of work for 2.5 months. It'll be nice to get back in action.

Time for the passenger side kick. Wow was this one easier !!! No brake peddle, steering wheel, etc.... in the damn way. Got it all taped up and foiled. This time I was more patient and layed down a minimum of 3 layers of mat, in all the corners and some other areas I put 4. Once its out of the car and cured, I'll seal up around where the glass attaches to the kick panel. I also layed up some more mat on the drivers side kick and worked in some mat where the glass attaches to the kick panel. The palm tree works great for hanging something out to dry

Good eye !! Yea, about half of it only has one layer, on the other half I put a layer of 1-1/2 oz mat on top of the 1st layer. I was very careful when I pulled it off so it wouldn't break or bend, so far it looks good. Thanks for the heads up on changing shape though, I didn't know that. Tomorrow I'll test fit it to see if it changed. If it does, I'll just have to make another one. it may not change until you start stretching the fabric over it. Oh, ok. In that case I should be ok, I'm going to build up at least 3 layers on the form before I start mounting rings and fabric. Thanks again. sounds good. Thanks for the tips, information is always helpful.

Well I finally got the guts to start the kick pods. I started on the drivers side since there is more stuff to work around, that way when I do the passenger side it will be a breeze. Pulled the kick panel out and layed down lots of masking tape. I took the dremel to the kick panel and cut out a huge section to make some clearance for the tang bands underhung motor assembly. And here it is all gooped up.
  22. Ok, I'm going to be running my wires soon, so I guess i need to start buying some. I'd like to use the Knukonceptz Karma SS speaker wire. I need to know what size I should be buying. I'm running 3 SAX-100.4D amps at 4ohms/4 channel so 100 overrated watts per channel. Sundown E8's for midbass, Tang Band 6.5 for mid and Seas Neo Tweets. Is the 16awg good enough or do I need to go up to 12awg? I know I'm not running tons of power, but I was wondering how much impedance loss I would be getting since the amps are in the trunk and the speakers up front. thanks.

Damn, I'm tired. I ran 2 runs of 1/0 Knukoncepts Fleks Kable to the trunk. I was able to run them from under the hood, thru the fender well (behind the splash guard) where the stock nissan cables go through. There is a huge rubber grommet that is very flexible that I was able to just push the cables thru right next to the stock cables. Fed them thru the cable channels under the carpet on the drivers side all the way to the back seat, then right up into the trunk. I still have to tie them up, but I'm not sure exactly how I want to route them along the side of the trunk yet, I just wanted to get them through the car. I'm thinking I'll just run the speaker wires and the Alpine cables under the carpet through the center console. All the rca's will be in the trunk. I'll take pics after I get something made along the lines of a small buss bar to mount on the batteries.
