This is from the E8 Pre Order Thread from Jacob: I have 4 of them I plan to use for that purpose. 2 in the front doors and 2 in the rear deck. Just got them today, they do look sweet in person !!!

Hang on, wiping the drool off the floor. Ok, yea, I just checked out the buttons and knobs. Oh how I love a nice set of knobs. So, here's 2 engineers checking out the insides of a 400 watt amp at work hehehehehehe. Very nice to say the least.

4 E8's and 3 100.4s landed in my lap today. Time to start drawing out the subfloor for my trunk to fit those amps !!! (and leave room for a 3000D) Thanks Jacob !!!!!

Great find !! This will keep me busy reading for a while.

Cool. I'll get a couple of yards just so I have some to play with. I'll probably want to practice a little on some scrap first. ODSound, those look very nice. What kind of paint is that? Nice finish.

x2 on the thanks. I'm a network engineer so I know exactly what you guys are going through. I know you have been putting in afterhours/weekend time on this and my appreciation goes out to you. It is reassuring when your vendor is actually there for you as well (Invision). I hate it when you need their support and either they put you on hold for 3 hours or they just don't answer at all. So hats off to them as well. Thanks for all the work, Bob.

Mechman Alternators He does not have all vehicles listed, just shoot Matt an Email, he will get back to you quickly. If he has one for a 97 Maxima, I bet he has one for a Lexus also. His email is [email protected] 1-888-MECHMAN is the phone number as well. I have not called them yet, but I may do so to inquire about dual alts for my car. Not sure if I want to go that far though -

ye. extra batterys kill capacitors ok so for electrical upgrade, did u ever recommend me a nice alternator? i can use a nice one, 1/0 gauge wiring, 2 d1200 batteries, and im good to go!! I'm going with a Mechman 250amp alt. $499 shipped for my 97 Maxima. Give them a call or email them to see what they have for your car. -
I agree. The cone on the left has a sort of speckled finish where the cone on the right has a smooth finish.

I'll take a hurricane over a raging fire anyday. Good luck to all of you.

Ok, I am the final stages of planning my system. Car is a 1997 Nissan Maxima. Musical preference is Rock and Roll( AcDc, Pink Floyd, Rush and pretty much all heavy metal). Amps are going to be all Sundown. I have 4 E8's on order for the midbass powered by a SAX-1004.D, 2 in front doors, 2 in rear deck. Front Stage (in addition to E8 midbass) will be Mach 5 MLi-65's and Seas 27TFFNC/G Tweeters active powered by a SAX-100.4D. My question comes down to the substage. I had originally planned 2 FI Q15's sealed on a SAZ-3000D. Only reason for that is I've always had sealed enclosures, I've never tried a ported. I'm open to opinions here, so here are the 2 options I'm tossing around. The 2 FI Q15's in a 5cuft sealed box, or 2 Sundown Nightshade 15's in a ported box. Either setup running off of a SAZ-3000D. Here is the plot for the Nightshade Box. It is 4.9cuft, common chamber with both 15's. 4.02" diameter 3.16" long cylindrical vent. I know this is subjective, but since I've never heard either driver, and there is no dealers/installers in my area that are worth a darn I'm asking for your opinions. I would like to go with a Complete Sundown system (except for mids and highs). Obviously i will have to play around with how the box sounds in the car (driver and port direction), but looking at it on paper, it seems like it would fit well with my listening preferences. Let me know if I left anything out that would help to answer the question. Thanks, Bob.

Finalizing my system, need some opinions on subs.

Yea, I'm having a little battle going on in my head with the whole SQ vs Output decision. My thoughts now are to try out the Nightshades vented, and if I don't like the sound, I'll do a new box sealed. I read a review somewhere on this forum with direct comparison between the Nightshade 15 and FI Q15. The results were that the sound quality was very similar except the Nightshade was much louder. I'll have 4 E8's running midbass so I'm hoping they will help the bass sound good while listening to music while the 15's do what they do best and move lots of air How would I go about figuring out the port area? When I go by either WinISD or the port calculators, they just help you with the tuning frequency. Do I just need to make it wider and longer to maintain the tuning freq but just let more air through? Thanks again, Bob. -

Yea, wouldn't it be nice if life were that easy? -
Ok so I was not far off. I was going with .19 like the Q15. Thanks

I am trying to find the Driver Displacement for the Nightshade 15. It is not listed on the Sundown Website and I have searched the forums and have not found the answer. Does anyone here happen to know? Thank you.

The only thing I was planning on using was the built in crossovers in the Sundown amps and the 13 band eq in the Kenwood DDX812. As for budget, I have budgeted enough for a Sundown 100.4 for the front stage (not including the one I already bought for the E8's) and a 50.4 for rear fill. As for speakers, I do not really have a set budget, but I don't want to go crazy either. I'm intrigued by the Rainbow SLC 265.25 Kick NG 2 way set and also the Diamond Audio S600s. Also as previously posted, I'm not opposed to putting a DIY component set either. If I go with one of the component sets from Diamond or Rainbow, I was going to not use the passive crossovers and set them up active with the Sundown amps crossovers. Did all that make sense? I think I typed it right

I'm in the final stages of planning out the system for my 97 Maxima. So far, I have 4 Sundown E8 woofers and a SAX-100.4 amp ordered to cover the midbass. Not purchased, but planned, is a SAZ-3000D running 2 Fi Q15's sealed. I want to run 2 of the E8's in the rear deck where the stock speakers are now and the other 2 E8's in the stock speaker locations in the front doors. The E8's will be powered by the 100.4 in a 4 channel 4ohm config so I can fade as needed for staging. That brings me to the topic of this post. I am left with trying to figure out what tweets and mids to go with. I was originally going install tweets in the stock locations which is at the top of the door near the dash, but they would be too far from the mids which I will probably have to make kicks for, so now I'm thinking I should put both the tweets and mids in the kicks. I have been looking at Seas Prestige 27TFFNC/G for the Tweets but now that I'm thinking about installing them in some kick panels, I'm open to other suggestions, maybe the larger Morel soft domes? As for the mids, I am undecided. I need something to fill in between the E8's and the Tweets. I'm thinking of running another 100.4 for the mids and tweets 2 channel active so they will have 100+ watts at their disposal. And for the final question, what do guys do for some rear fill? I need to have something in the back other than bass so the kids can listen to their music in the morning or watch a DVD (Kenwood DDX812 in the plan). Do I just put the same tweets and mids that are installed up front and just fade them down to control staging? I could also put them on a SAX-50.4 2 channel active. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
