Any 8-12 gauge speaker wire would be good for hooking up the subs to the amp. The amp kit looks good, and with that much equipment I would recommend a 250-300amp fuse.

Where can the silicone II clear and how much is it usually? I think it would be easier to get that foam tape your talking about so I don't have to deal with silicone. -
Problem with head unit
ShaneSauce replied to ShaneSauce's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Thanks KU40, turns out it was the harness that plugs into the head unit that was bad. Had to buy a new one for $15 and re-wire EVERYTHING but hey I have my music back. -
Problem with head unit
ShaneSauce posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
So my kenwood kdc deck is acting up and I feel like I don't know where to start.. Ok so the other day my head unit would just randomly turn off and then back and on and back off again. It would work for the most part then yesterday I was stopped at the bank and it shut off and didn't come back on.. So tonight I re-did some of the wiring behind the head unit but still nothing. I'm thinking its either a bad ground or a loose wire somewhere.. It will come on for a good 5-10 seconds and then I move it and it shuts off. Any help is greatly appreciated. -
Well I figured might as well make the car look decent while I'm driving it. '97 toyota tercel 1.3L Its currently a dark green and the clear coat is coming off horribly and it just looks really bad.. Me and a friend are gonna start sanding it down tomorrow if its not raining and then hopefully spraying by monday if its not raining. I went and bought the paint today along with hardener and thinner. Its a metallic midnight blue with a lot of pearl in it, it looks really nice. I will have pics up tonight when I get in from work.

FINALLY! Sorry for not updating the thread guys, me and my friend have been a bit busy lately with school and work. It has been sanded mostly, except for the right side. I had to buy adhesion promoter and flex additive for the bumpers. Sunday we got bondo over all the dents went over the old emblem indention with bondo to give the back a custom look with no emblems or anything. The other side is getting sanded as I speak, I WILL have progress pics up tonight. If everything goes as planned it will be ready to spray saturday.

Help with voltmeter again
ShaneSauce posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I have it wired but it doesn't turn off when I turn the car off because its directly hooked up to the battery. I'm thinking I can splice into my remote turn on for the amp but I won't get a voltage reading from that will i? I need a way to get the best voltage reading possible and for the meter to shut off when the car is turned off... helpppppppppppppppppppp -
The speakers are ruled out now, He says when he pushes down on the front of the head unit really hard sound comes through again. So there must be a loose connection somewhere behind the head unit.

My buddy drives a '00 frontier with a jvc head unit with aux. His 6 3/4" door speakers are blown so they are disconnected and the only speakers he had were the stock tweeters in the door. He got in the truck and no sound was coming from the tweeters. Tried CD player, aux, radio and nothing. Were thinking the tweeters could have taken a dump or the head unit is poop, or maybe a loose connection somewhere? What could this be?
-
That can't be the case because he has been using just the tweeters since he has had the truck. The door speakers were blown when he got it.

So there is this girl that keeps tagging my car she has done it about 7 times now, she is a good friend and I love her to death but I want to get her back really good. She is 17 and gets her car in a couple of weeks, I'm thinking put her car on blocks and watch her suffer or is this too cruel?

The only reason people are being negative is because your coming off like a punk. I have to agree with them but I have to agree with you at the same time. If it was a old country road or something in the afternoon its not like it would have mattered, but going around neighborhoods at 2 in the morning bumping is a different story. I don't know why you would lie to a cop in the first place he must have had a good enough reason to stop you.

Help with voltmeter again
ShaneSauce replied to ShaneSauce's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Would I get a good reading from the ignition? And how would I go about doing that.. edit: somehow splicing into my ignition wire or something? double edit: could I run the power from the meter to somewhere on my amp? it should shut off along with my amp when I turn my car off right? But then I wouldn't really have a place to ground it.. -
Need help quick with voltmeter
ShaneSauce replied to ShaneSauce's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Thanks for the help, we are just going to use a inline switch i think to turn it on and off. We got it hooked up and mounted on my dash though it looks really sweeeeeeet. Lowest I dipped was to 12.8 while idling playing get low by lil john at full tilt for 30 seconds. While driving I shouldn't have a problem right? -

I just picked up a memphis digital display voltage meter and I'm not too sure how I should hook this up.. I'm thinking the positive 12v wire should be ran from the battery to the gauge and the negative to a ground somewhere? And can I just use speaker wire? I'll post a pic while I'm waiting for a response from you guys. Those posts on the bottom are positive and negative, they are also removable.. I was hoping to take those posts off so i could fit the meter in a little nook in my dashboard. -
Still tossing around ideas on the new setup... Any 18's out there that can take 3500 daily and sound good in around 4-5cuft?
-
Ah the anticipation is killing me! It should look clean though, that's what I'm aiming for. IT RAINED ALL DAY YESTERDAY AND TODAY WTF
-
I picked up a adhesive promoter today that you just spray on before painting. What about the flex additive? That's so the paint doesn't crack on the plastic right?
-
Your not a big fan of bodywork? I don't think anybody is Update Friend with the DA sander is in orlando until friday so I will do a little sanding by hand until he gets back. I need a adhesive agent to mix with the paint for plastic seeing as im painting my bumpers. (gonna run and get that today) Getting my windows tinted this week as a late birthday present (20% on all rears and 35% on fronts) Buying some 17" motegi's very very soon with some 215/45/17 tires Will have post hand sanding pics up tonight

Also curious to see how your doing jon. I'm a pretty big guy myself being 6'1 270lbs I know what its like to be on the larger side of things. There is some great advice given in here. If your trying to just look better all around the goal isn't to exactly lose weight its to lose body fat, I'm sure you have a good amount of muscle also. Like everybody else says you gotta keep at it. BURN MORE CALORIES THAN YOU TAKE IN that's all you have to do... Find your maintenance level of calories for a week and then drop them by 500-1000 calories a week and you will see almost instant improvements. Most people with a good enough drop in calories will see 1-2 pounds dropping off every week.
