I've got 400 watts.....what to do with it?
Acidburn replied to bobby_7's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
the SX is DVC2 as well... IMO (from owning a 15" SX and hearing reviews of the RL-p) the RL-p will have better low-end the SX will be slightly louder in the upper-sub-bass region -
sweet amps Jason

thats the thing, i had the gain pretty low (never got around to doing the proper method ) so i'd guess it was closer to 600-700 and then theres the Imp rise... IMO, 3 cubes is way too big, especially with 1200w-1300w i would either do a 2 cube box and put in slugs to drop it down to where you want it or just a 1.75 cube box your not the first person to mention a weak spot in SX's bottom end, which is not bad for a SPL focused sub ya, i've heard of that before in my 3.4 to 34 ported box, it wasnt lacking low-end but it wasnt a low-end monster either i think i slightly larger sealed box (and more power in my case) would've helped to gain a little more low-end extention because it was severely lacking in my setup

ported boxes can sound just as good as sealed ones, it's all in the design

Not I, sorry. x2

Yeah I despise deadening x2

i had one of my SX15s inverted in a 1.58 cube sealed box for a few weeks off of a Tsunami 1800T at 4 ohms (rated at 900w) but the gain was fairly conservative it didnt get as loud as when i had it in a ported box (obviously) but it was still enough to shake the Impala, and it hit tight and clean, my main problem with the set up was lack of lowend, it was noticeably really lacking, this could be from the lack of power or from the size of the box how many watts are you going to run?

Where do you guys mount your alarms?

Take your car to the average installer and they will just throw it up under the dash however they see fit. So why do most people even bother? I like to take a little extra effort to confuse the potential thief if they gain entry and hopefully frustrate the hell out fo them by not being able to find anything. 99% are going straight under the dash on the drivers side looking for the brain. yep, and they leave a huge rats nest of wires under your dash -
the Cluepon is amazing

how long did it take Ecko? i say about 2 weeks, he's probably clipping the hell out of it but cant tell because of the design (or just doesnt know any better lol)

Hell no. Yes, there are some times when begrudgingly, you have to use an Xover (the Klipsch towers being one of them...). However, there's nothing wrong, if the design allows for it, with simply highpassing the tweet with a cap and letting the woofer run full range, if the specs are up to it. That's pretty standard practice for open baffle speakers, and hooking supertweeters to backloaded horns for better high-end response. The point of using a 1st-order Xover is to keep losses due to components to an absolute minimum. I guess he's never worked with amps under 10 watts before aahhh crap, i've got some reading/investigating to do

i was actually wondering about that think i should atleast put a disclaimer that CA.com does not condone it

i just feel he has absolutely no credability as a reviewer he tried to compare his to Kents, but there is just no comparison Kent's experience > his pretty much lack there of Kent's willingness to do everything the RE people asked him to > his refusal to do anything SS people asked him Kent's time spent with each woofer tweaking things to get them just right for each > his 15 minute show in front of his friends

daaaamn, lots of very sweet pictures ya got there
