My RL-p box sucked, now it's in a better home with
jellyfish420 replied to ls1pimp's topic in SoundSplinter
i doubt very seriously that the sub was bottoming out, in that small of a sealed box. i don't see why everyone is having so many problems? well i do see it really...everyone buys this sub because all of the good things everyone says. then think they can throw it in some cheap, prefab, little ass box and think the sub is just gonna make up for it. note to everyone: the most expensive "super-sub" WILL sound like ass in a crappy box, and sony xplod's in the proper box will walk all over the super-subs in a crappy box every day of the week . . . . -
pretty nice how does the AC compare to the old and new TL? db-wise...
-
not good what? i had the RL-p's in a box that was 4.5ft^3 under the window, @ 37Hz w/ 68in^2 port and did a 151db on the old TL. and this one would be tuned higher and have more port.
-
ok, i did a 143.9 w/ my 2 15's. and i'm wanting to redo the box to try for louder. i'm putting about 750-800 to them a piece. do you think i could get 1 15 w/ 1600w louder than the 2? or would i be better off sticking w/ the 2?
-
went to a db drag tonite and i took first place. super street 1-2. hit a 143.9 legal on the new TL
-
so what your saying is in application (even though theory says no) the 4ft box "could" be louder w/ the same power. it's all just try it out and see how it does?

hey are they still selling those windshield banners? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> have to ask steve (ss3079) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i already talked to him...he said he'd get back to me once he found out if he had extras. thanks denim

i've got into the habit of doing an imp graph for each box (or change to a box) so i know tuning was 31 before i started and 36 when i finished;) so the 4 ft would only be louder if i put more power to it???
-
w/ 1500-2000w i'd do 2.75-3ft net per sub @ ~35Hz w/ say 35-40in^2 port.
-
ive been doing some thinking...i looked at the soundstream site the other day and they got new specs. instead of 3.3ft like it was the other day it says 2ft... my questions is doesn't a smaller box yield a bigger "hump" in freq. response? so for instance a 4ft box @ 40Hz will theoretically be louder than say a 6ft box @ 40Hz???

ya i tried slugging the box before i went, but i couldn't find anything to take up enough room, to really make a difference. so i got in there w/ a tire iron and ripped out about 6-7" port. hoping that the little bit of calculation i did in my head was right. i was at 6ft@31Hz so i guessed at 6.5ft. but i ploted the impedance afterwards to get a tuning of 34-36Hz. i plan on redoing the box w/ more port tuned higher. and a second battery. i do wanna get a second ega1400d... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> around 35Hz should give you a good jump on the TL over 27Hz...what was your peak frequincy with the 143? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> my bad i should of said i'm running 6.5ft @ ~34-36Hz sorry

what about batteries? does that make a diff? i thought it seemed kinda odd. that i went against a guy w/ 1 18 MMATS, a XX COLOSUS, and a whole back floor board full of batteries, i didn't count, but like 4 or 5.

no, i didn't get a trophy! and i forgot the camera at home the best part....registration was $15....i won $10!!! its cool that i won and all, but chit...i could of saved my $5 i lost and sat at home and watched tv!

i'm redoing them. the tweet is gonna be in them this time and i'm molding them to the actual kick panel from the car.... one question though...should i seal of the backside of the tweeter hole? or just leave it like that?
-
i will be able to answer you better after i get all the resonance out of my kicks. i built new ones, w/ the factory kick as the back...and it is resonating like a mofo! i got the midbass turned down right now, i'll hopefully have that taken care by the weekend.

well i've done a bit more playing...i took the db x-overs out and hooked the comps back up to the RE x-overs. still sounded like ass. well i drove around for like a week w/ NO highs! today i put my ear down to the tweets and they're barely making any noise at all...all the high notes are trying to play through the 6.5 ????? so i ripped out all the wires and rewired it. nothing...then put the db x-overs back in. wow do these tweets scream now! my front stage sounds perfect now! i guess it was the re x-overs the whole time. but at least it finally sounds good.

Adjusting FREQ/SLOPE for active setup...INPUT?
jellyfish420 replied to ngsm13's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
well you don't wanna crossover the sub at 63 and the mids at 63...you want the point were the two drivers frequencies ranges cross to be -3db. basically the same principle as subs. 2 drivers playing the same freq adds 3db. so where the 2 meet shoud be 3db down...which in the end will be level....for example...yours on top, example on bottom... -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5781162501&rd=1 it looks strikingly similar to the first proto LMT or the famous uber...

i need some new tweets for my RE 6.5 comps. theyre just not loud enough. i had some polk db tweets, and i really liked them, but they're long gone now. since i don't know alot about tweets i'm basing my search off of the polks sensitivity rating of 94db @ 1w/m. that is how loud (more or less) it'll be right? here is a couple that i found on ebay. if you know of something else let me know..... p.s. i only got about $25 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5786730772&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5785599027&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5785363901&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5786702185&rd=1

would there be a noticable difference between 70wx2 passive on my RE 6.5's and 125x4 active thru my 860? i might be getting a visonik 4208. anyone used this amp? is it any good???
-
the other post said hk-597...not 598
-
the hk does 100x4rms...but this manual http://www.visonikcaraudio.com/sub/support/manuals/V4208.pdf says this visonik 4208 does 250x4rms... are you sure its the same thing?
