5.25 Mid range looking to change

Read what he typed again. He said 3 way active in the door, and 3" or 4' in the kick panel. I could fit the 8 in the door but nothing else. would a 4 in driver in the kick panel make that much midrange, I may be missing the point. I could put like 2 4" in kick panel and the 8 in the door. is that it or am I missing something.

5.25 Mid range looking to change

ya doors are dynamated up pretty good. I could fit an 8's but thats it. the window motor is in the way for much more and the window trck is pretty close so it would have to be a shallow mount. I have considered using the 8 in the door but I think I would lose in the end with not enough midrange sound

5.25 Mid range looking to change

I have been using my dual 5.25 polks in my doors for about 2 years, I have custom door pods built into the factory door locations. I have 2 5.25 in each door. I am wanting to stay away from putting kick panels, there is not really any more room for bigger speakers in the doors. I am wanting a fuller sounding front stage. I have 1 set of tweets flush mounted in the A pillars.. My front channel off the head unit is powering the tweets crossed over @ 3500 hz. The 2 mids are run off the rear channel and ran in series they are crossed over @ 80 hz . both are ran off the 4 channel sony amp I have. They sound good but seem a little flat to me. All this is in a 2000 dodge ram reg cab. I am looking for a well rounded full sounding front stage. As far a budget goes would not want to spend anymore than 300 per set. and I am hoping to find just a midbass/ midrange woofer and a component set. The clarion head unit I have has time alignment and a nice 3 way crossover system. I have been trying to utilze it to the max. If I thought it would make a real difference I would be inclined to add kick panels, but the guys I work with on my stereo stuff says it would not really imporve my front stage being so low and I am big guy. but I am listening and learning. I am not afraid to work with fiberglass and molding materials. In the next few months I am going to be doing an upgrade to my amps. but thats for a later post. I have worked with a few mid ranges Infinity, polk, rockford fosgate, and kicker over the years. But I have really in the last 2 years gotten really serious about it. I have thought about going to competitions but I want to get everything set up before the start of next years events. Sorry about the earlier post was @ work and trying to post real quick. thanks for any help

    Trying to decide

Ya the boxes are 1 cube, may just go with 1 12 in a bigger sealed box like a cube and a half and see how it sounds. If I still dont get what I want from it Ill port it out. The midbass would be in the back with 12's I was going to build kickpanels for some 6.5" and just leave it but I am not sure if I wanna go through the trouble of it. Sounds good the way that it is just does not hit the low lows. Ill keep you guys posted about the turn out.

    Trying to decide

Right now I am running 2 polk momo 12's single vc, in sealed 1 cube boxes behind my seat. I am thinking of switching to 1 12 in a ported box and adding 2 8's for some more midbass. I dont have the room to port both subs. The sealed box are fine but I listen to a wide range of music, sometimes they dont hit the low low notes as well as I want them. I was just wonder if there was any suggestions about the quality of sound or should I just suck it up. I dont want to cut the back wall or anything, though I am thinking about modding the rear speaker spots on the wall behind the door/ seat for the 8's. I have a good sound for the most part it s just hitting the hard low notes that I want to fill out some more, but I dont want to lose the tight hitting bass either. Thanks for any help

Need Help Setting up single cab s10

If you are switching to racing seats, what are you going to do with your middle space why not build you a consol/box between the seats of there is enough room with out measurements and looking @ it. I agree with only 1 12. should be more than enough and give you ample room and boom. oh and Welcome

    Should I ?

Thats what I am still learning to do s the lapping of the freq, I am wanting a little more control I think. I am wanting to switch out to a ported single 12 and a couple of 8's for midbass and have them bandpassed but I still to working with real sound quality. Always been ghetto fabulous before now. I have stepped up my game for this go around. I have some pictures I'll post when I get it done. I was going to start a build log but I am about done now. Ill post what I have and what I am still working on
  12. I was wondering if I should get an outside crossover and eq or combination of them for my truck, I am using the active crossover on my H/U clarion dxz-785usb, it has Digital time alignment on it and 18 db slope 3 way crossover in the deck. I am running my front channel to my tweets @ 3500 hz then running my dual 5.25 in the door of the rear channel ran @ 90hz and up then sub channel @ 90hz and below Would I improve my SQ buy adding and eq/crossover to the mix or is the head unit alone good enough. It sounds good now, just wish I had a little more control over the freq.
