Scrapin' the Coast 2011
threedd97 replied to sefugi's topic in Competitions & Other Organized SPL/SQ Events
I work at the grand casino down here. I don't compete or anything but I go every year I can. Come through valet and look for Brian so I can see your ride. -
Is there any way I can reattach this myself? This is basically what I opened my trunk to:
-
It's 3.2 cubic feet. Just a weird angle I took the photo at. It's also all I could really fit in the trunk. I might be able to go to 4, but I haven't tried to fit something that large into the trunk's opening. The sub is also a few years old now.

Yes, infact just get some epoxy, 10-15minute and apply it around the previous glue joint. Then set some weight on it. Thanks for the information Is that an audio enhancers enclosure? Just some enclosure made by a local store in Mobile, AL. I didn't feel like making one at the time so I bought that one.

I just looked into how to remove the headliner. So much work just to get it out.

My Icon 12" stopped working the other day. I don't think it's blown and the amp still powers on too. Anyways, I bought back my old setup which is the Fi BTL 15 and Cadence ZRS-9. So loud. I need to take down my headliner to sound deaden it. Too many vibrations coming through the roof. Wonder if anyone that's coming down for scrapin' the coast this year would want to help, lol.

Wasn't sure where to post this, so I'm going to put it here. Upgraded from a pair of Sennheiser HD595. These things sound amazing and my amp for them hasn't even come in yet.
-
The amp came in today. It's a wonderful piece of hardware. I think I'm going to stick with it. Much higher quality than I was expecting. Really opens up the headphones.

http://www.headphone.com/headphone-amps/headroom-desktop-ampdac.php I might sell this and pick up those Mavericks.
-
Pretty sweet looking amp and dac. Wish I knew about these before I purchased mine. I might pick these up anyways for my other room.
-
Almost as yummy as your sig.
-
http://www.headphone.com/headphone-amps/headroom-desktop-ampdac.php is the amp. I can't find Maverick amps anywhere. Looks like their site went down.
-
Is anyone else here into headphones?
-
The video of it playing @ 21hz sounds like a helicopter or propellered airplane.

The Pioneer AVH-P4200 installed: Positive and Negative upgrades on the battery: The positive upgrade from alternator: Close up of the new positive terminal: Close up of the new negative terminal: The Second Skin Damplifier Pro. I bought way too much: The SSA Icon 12"!: Tools used to remove panels to add the sound damplifier (the mallet was to break a pin holding the airbag panel on the c-pillar): The sound damplifier added on. It was a pain in the ass because of all of the holes for the rear deck clips and stuff. I had to cut small pieces and put them all over and started to get lazy with it and missed some spots because of it. I was so worn out from spending so much time removing the deck: In the end it was a waste because I broke a lot of clips for the rear deck when trying to release them. I have to buy new clips so the deck won't vibrate. It seems to only make noise with higher ranged bass notes though. I also noticed my headlights still dim considerably. I guess 1k watts drains more than I thought. Might need a second battery after all.
-
The factory battery in my car or those kinetik batteries? I've only used cadence before arc. I like them both, but I think the arc is better. It's the only amp I've used on the icon.
-
Yeah I haven't gotten around to the engine ground yet. I ran out of ring terminals trying to figure out how to use my crimper. Most likely its the factory battery though. And to who said they have that screw driver, its a really nice screw driver!
-
What the hell was all that? Hijacked my thread!
-
Not really. When the sub hits really low notes I don't notice a lot of dimming if any at all. I see dimming from more midrange bass notes. I don't know the hz these tones are, so I can't get specific for you. I did notice that it all sounds better though. I assume the battery is maintaining voltage better.

I forgot to mention I was going to upgrade that battery. That's what you get with an over seas car I guess. Which btw, I don't think I will ever buy a Japanese car again. I forgot how TIGHT they cram everything in under the hood. And all of the extra electrical nonsense they put in cars these days makes it so much more difficult to fiddle with electrical upgrades. That alternator terminal was so hard to access without removing it the entire thing. Also, the black and yellow wire in picture #4 had to be reconnected. I joined it into the same terminal as the white wire, but I had to cut away some of the copper to get it to fit. Those factory wires are the shortest, most inflexible wires to work with. I thought it was just the preexisting power lead from the alt to the batt. Turns out it was for my starter or eeprom or something like that because I couldn't crank the car without it. The box is some prefabbed thing I bought from a local audio store for my other sub. It's not the most elaborate enclosure, but it gets the job done while I wait for SSA to get their Khaotic enclosures going again. I believe it's 1.1 cubic feet. The battery terminals and wire are from KnuKonceptz. I didn't want to have to use ring terminals so I purchased those, even though they are pricey. I plan on cleaning the trunk up and making it more eye appealing sometime in the future. Hiding wires better and displaying the amp more profoundly, probably put it in front of the sub box or something.

Going to attempt to install it myself. I'll take pics with my new camera of the progress.

Help me choose a 2 DIN HU.

I use the avh p4200 and love it. Absolutely a steal at its price on sonicelectronix.com. -
Fanbois? OP: Everything advised to you here is good advice. Ultimately a selection will have to be made by you. Good luck!

M5: Out of curiosity, why are your replies always negative with nothing positive to contribute? I mean, it seems as if you are always raging. OP: Bravox are nice and won't break the bank. Don't mess with the rears. You'll never hear them over your sub, especially if you change to a BTL. To my understanding, Infinity speakers are pretty decent.
