Since there is no "pre-designed enclosures" tab for the GCON, and "enclosure recommendations" says 2.0-2.5 ft3, I'm wondering if I could use the plan for the ICON (12" optimal ported, 2.5 ft3 @ 30 Hz)? @Aaron Clinton?

Okay, so this is what I've come up with. Screenshots of WinISD graphs included. Please let me know if anyone sees something that doesn't look right. Thanks!

Thanks Aaron! I used a port calculator and that was the area it spit out for box size and max power. I'll bring it down a bit. Also, from what I've read the Gcon will handle 1500w dynamically without issue. Would you agree with that? Or should I use a lower-powered amp?

Thank you sir! I placed an order for a 12" GCON, powering it with a 1500W amp @ 1ohm. Box is going in the trunk of a Hyundai Elantra. The box I came up with is a slot port with 2.5 ft3 net internal, port area of 43.75 in2 and port displacement of 1.17 ft3, tuned to 31 Hz. Sub back, port back. Any advice is welcome!

Thank you! I've been playing around with WinISD and SubBox for the last couple of days, and I think I've got things squared away!

I've posted elsewhere but am hoping for more input. I'm changing/adding subs on a budget and I have it narrowed down to a few, but would like people's opinions on them. Car is a 2013 Elantra sedan, factory HU, using a basic LOC for signal. Will run 1/0 power wire. Amp will be a Taramps, model dependent on sub(s). I'll be building an mdf enclosure, probably ported. I listen to a mix of rap/dubstep/alt rock. Just a daily SQ system. Based on my budget and space limitations, I can do 2-12s using a pair of Ampere 2.5RVE or D.C. Level 2, or I can do a single 12 using either a Skar VXF, FI XV3, SSA Gcon or SSA Icon. What I'm really after is, are there any significant qualities of the subs previously mentioned that I should know about to disqualify one or consider one over the others? Which would you choose???

Hi y'all, this is actually my second post because I replied to the "How did you find SSA" thread first lol. I joined for education. I can't honestly say that it won't be only for the short tem, as I only have one vehicle to work with (my other vehicle is a new GM and apparently they're damn near impossible to upgrade). Anyways, I'll have some dumb questions, so apologies in advance!

Thanks Nigel! I asked because the Smart 3 puts out 2k at 4ohms, and tirefryr suggested one Gcon.

The Gcon will take 2k rms?

Forgot to mention, I'm a low-budget noob with high-budget aspirations lol!

Found SSA while searching for better, non-commercial subs for my car.
