If you're really after loud SQ, sealed is the way to go.

I'd have to check the specs of the bearing that came with my VPI... But sweet bejeezus that would provide some stability once it spun up
-
Granite circles? How large? Would make one heck of a turntable platter
-
Should have them playing next week provided I can rent Dave or Ramos for a bit
-
Got a way to clean up the part I fucked up on the BIB's, going to have to wait three weeks or so until I go home next and bring back my flush trim router and compound miter, but I can wait on that...purely cosmetic detail.

The urge for getting a motorcycle is getting stronger, though...it'd be the perfect commuting vehicle, not that I'm commuting now but it'd be at least something fun to go around town with. Driving is a chore right now, something I could take up the Blue Ridge Parkway every now and then or out to WV would be pretty fun...

http://raleigh.craigslist.org/car/608219825.html Local, too... Shifting with my left hand would be an adventure, though
-
I was thinking about an Excursion myself, but not having a manual transmission option sort of takes them off my list An F-350 with a bed cap would have basically the same functionality for me, anyway...

I think even with the forums the percentage sold as compared to more commercialized, mainstream brands is still very small - not that that's a bad thing, always
-
I meant literally the other Fi - Google "Fi 2A3" and you'll see what I'm talking about Strictly a by-phone business...
-
130k is a lot of miles to start with.
-
I know small audio companies that are doing well today that don't even have websites - if the product is good enough, they'll literally sell themselves Ironically, the one I'm thinking about is the other Fi Audio

What's a "handful" of people, though
-
Not fuck them up in the beginning? I'll bet if you putty it with decent filler and sanding no one will really notice at all. Yeah, yeah, yeah... Would have cut new pieces but I didn't have any extra, and didn't really feel like running down to Lowe's for one 1x3.
-
And sand...and sand...and sand...and sand some more.
-
I need to fill all the nail holes, actually.
-
Ryan, do you have any tricks for making miter joints look pretty after they've been fucked up? I have an outside miter on the bottom trim of the BIB's...accidentally put a brad too close to the edge, so now I've got a little hole on both sides of the joint (took the nail out and re-attached the pieces)...I'm thinking some filler and sanding will take care of it, but it'll piss me off if I notice it too much...

It seems to do very well with Dave's MS1000 as a midbass amp Perhaps where the focus is more on active solutions on here, a single 2-channel isn't getting the attention unless people already have another 2-channel. But it's hard to argue with $200 either way, I bought my Tantrum 500.2 for nearly that used, four years ago, with no warranty

I've heard very good things about M-Audio cards, check out Hydrogen Audio and the PC Audio section of Audio Asylum as well for recommendations... I use an outboard Sound Blaster one, probably not the greatest from an "audiophile" standpoint but it does have 24/96 playback and a remote, which is kind of cool - and I had it laying around already
-
"Daily" is a meaningless term, anyway... My definition of "daily" is different than yours, I guarantee...

Nah, you're not rambling nonsense. That helps Instead of posting all those links in here, check out the links thread that's pinned up at the top of this forum. I'm a single driver guy when it comes to DIY and cheap...you could run a supertweet on the top to get more bright treble and run a capacitor on it to tweak the sound to taste... You could put together a pretty decent 2-channel setup to start with for $500...I'm thinking a pair of Fostex 166E's (Sigmas would be out of your budget) in BIB's, with a Sonic T-amp or a used Adcom, a used preamp and a pretty decent outboard SC. In particular, check out the BIB section on http://www.zillaspeak.com, and http://www.frugel-horn.com.

First, we need a budget for this stuff. Also, have you heard anything high-end you particularly liked? Just trying to get an idea of what kind of sound you're into...although where you're in Austin I'm sure there are hi-fi dealers around...
-
I'm more into home audio at the moment, but we've got people to help you get insane with both
-
We could have some fun with that

Convince him to let you put holes in a wall, and run those IB
