GO YANKS! If the beginning of the season is any indication of the rest of the year, it's going to be insane. Sox and Yanks are both at the bottom of the division. Let the O's win a few in the start. Their fans need delusions of grandeur... I have a feeling by October it'll be back to where it usually is...

What kind of jazz do you like?
-
Filling brad nail holes is excruciatingly boring Of course, if these were little "bookshelf" speakers it'd be a different story...
-
Sox/NY game on. Good.

There's nothing else going on in the world that CNN needs to run over an hour of BS dedicated to what Hillary or Obama think about religion? I'll watch crab fishing instead, thanks...

The two that were on Force I can't stand AK for the most part. All the local guys are great, but there's a bunch of them on there that rub me the wrong way... DIYAudio is blah, pretty much. I don't go there unless I have a specific question

You'd need to have a cargo van or Suburban-sized SUV in order to fit the enclosure that it'd require...IB is efficient, but not that efficient
-
Here? Or you could go where I'm a n00b as well...either the tube section of DIYAudio or Audio Asylum. Both Mikes need to post more on here

A sealed RL-i 8" and that set run active, with the right install and tuning, would work well for that

http://www.partsexpress.com http://www.knukonceptz.com http://www.partsconnexion.com Between those three sites, I usually find 95% of what I'm looking for connection and wire-wise...

Because they were built for refrigerator-sized horns B&C neodymium drivers would be a lot more flexible in installation. I've found that I like subwoofers when they roll off starting above 50Hz...a strong 80Hz presence is going to be noticeable behind you, especially with the cone area you said you had.

Tang Band and JL are about the only two that come to mind right away. May I ask what the application is? You could always beef up the front stage with large midbasses and remove the need for separate subs altogether
-
I'm not familiar with many Pioneers, I know you could find older model Alpines in that budget, though. Someone who's more knowledgeable about the Pio line could step in here...

Kenwood Excelon KDC-X792, any thoughts?
JimJ replied to buickid's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
If you're concerned about SQ, I'd pay attention to the crossover and EQ functions unless you have outboard units that can take care of that. -
HBD more than a man, less than a god...
-
Doesn't sound like it can do active...I'd find a unit that does, no reason not to if you're already looking at a five-channel and starting from scratch
-
Paradigm has some pretty good speakers out there.

Does that Pioneer have active capability? If so, sounds pretty good so far

SET's and horns in one room, line arrays in another, electrostats in another, single drivers in another, etc, etc

That's far more fun And far more money. The first part isn't quite so exciting as whole house audio comes before the fun audio. Mostly since I have to do the wiring for other things, but I figure I might as well integrate a "system" while I am at it. Then I can start scheming on what to build for mains for three different rooms. Welcome to 2008. I will have stereo in more than 10 rooms and not a single one of them will have that trendy but useless surround sound crap. If it were me, I'd probably run 10 different things I guess the multiroom things are cool, but I'd rather have the variety

Altec 12's with alnico magnets are some of the best sounding 12" midbasses I've heard, not sure how well they'd work IB, though...
-
But what makes it distinctly separate from "SQ" I believe if you go to a "SQ" competition, staging might be one of the things they look at - correct me if I'm wrong though
-
Heck, I don't know how much you want to throw into this, but a DACT stepped attenuator would probably blow the original pots out of the water Or at least a good quality ALPS or Noble stereo pot...
