Google. A standard Bosch-type relay will allow you to run more current off the head unit's remote line than you would normally (around 300-400mA, not much for powering fans). You need a relay, otherwise the excess current draw will toast the HU's circuitry for the REM line.

Maybe not, but I'd rather not drive than trade in my individuality for a Civic I'm just not a fan of that car. I've never seen or driven in one that I've liked a lot. VW's are fine - a buddy of mine had an older GTI that had some real zip to it. Jettas are chick cars, at least around here, and they're a PITA to install in (as I found out recently), but they move decently quick.
