Hmm, I wonder who that is... I know the feeling, SiN is an excellent technical resource, but the agendas there get tiring; that's why I mostly lurk in the HA section and avoid the general car audio forum. Group hug? Who's with me...

Stick your head in there, if you don't think it can get bone-jarringly loud. I bet those things can get to the point of pain off a watt and a half. Even with medium to high efficiency speaks (like 92 to 96dB, a good range), 3 to 5 watts is really all you need for comfortable listening. I'm not using the tube system for home theater or parties...that's what the NAD and JBL's (eventually with the TC prototype and 1kW rack amp) are for. The triodes are for when I feel like relaxing, or studying, or simply want to hear some great sounding music without my ears bleeding off. If nothing else, listening too loud, all the time, will result in you talking like Lil' Jon when you're 30

suck it up, buttercup. hot glue isn't bad, it's cyanoacrylate that really is fun...if you get any on you, better hope you don't have any hair on that spot, because you won't when you peel the CA off. You might not have much skin left on that spot either.

x2. Stuffing it with XBL^2 enabled mids (a la Creative Sound drivers) and ribbon tweets would be creamalicious, although it would blow any semblance of a budget away The Dayton Aluminums are a much more practical idea...although Dayton ribbon transducers would still be teh sweetness

j/k. I've never owned an Akai before, but I do have a Kenwood FM tuner of the same vintage...so I'm guilty...sort of. The cabs are looking very sharp. I would say to bring them to work, but you probably won't be able to get anywhere near the output level those things are capable of. Those are going to beg to be cranked up.

I'm willing to bet that Supa has never heard a good low-power setup before; so I'll call it back
