hell, i'd be happy with a Browning .50cal...

Kent, you need to get one of those A-10 cannons for the 4th That would be a good time, at least until the cops showed up...

Some things are better left in 1956...monophonic sound is one of them.

the plus side is, my projects are finally coming together in the next few weeks (hopefully). the chassis for my amp was powdercoated this week, along with the transformers...so the small parts will probably be added soon. if Kent hasn't completely forgotten about my cabs (j/k, you scary, scary man ) those should be done by his friend in a few weeks. and, i'll be able to afford the turntable i've been looking at, brand new...no digital allowed for this system. i'd have to build my own tube phono stage for it, but that's pretty easy.

Yup, something I didn't know...I do now.

I got owned by an LED this week. I go to turn the van on for the first time in a week this afternoon, and nada. Pop the hood, and see that I'm getting 5V at the battery. Fun. Turns out my cell phone's DC charger happens to have a little red LED that I haven't noticed before, and for the entire week while I've been out of town, it's been going to town on my battery. It's great having a battery that will come back from abuse like that, but man...deep cycles are a b-i-t-c-h to bring back from the dead. They'll eventually run back up to regular float voltage, but it took almost 30min and a trip down the road before I felt comfortable taking it out on the highway. I got owned by a 3 cent diode...

Van Morrison was one I should have looked for. I bought the 2-CD CCR imported set a while ago..."Platinum" or something or other. Better (but more $$$, of course) than Chronicles. I already have The Wall. How could I not I've listened to 40 Licks before, and honestly, I wasn't too impressed with the recording quality of the albums...besides, I've collected 90% of the tracks that I like on them anyway without buying the CD's. Thanks all for the suggestions, though. I ended up with some Neil Young, Clash, Miles Davis, a replacement of "Who's Next" b/c my old one was scratched, and "The Kids Are Alright" because I didn't have it. Also picked up some Chemical Bros.

so...I'm two blocks away from the Virgin Megastore, and invariably I've spent several hours over the last few days there perusing albums that I've always wanted to get but couldn't find anywhere else back home. I need suggestions for three or four albums to pick up. Steve and Tom know my musical taste pretty well, but for anyone else, I mostly listen to classic rock, with some techno/trance and jazz thrown in there. Thanks.

http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?accstube&1125162801 That's another way to make me pass out. $750 a matched pair...not bad for devices that haven't been used since they were built in the '40s. I wanna pair for my new amp

x3 I get this sinking feeling I'm going to be delayed going out of Laguardia today...have a 3:30 flight to RDU, and there ain't no way it's going out on time b/c of the weather. 8 hour drive, anyone

i could go for a stromboli, too...like a ham, pepperoni, and cheese one.
-
I get that way too...but luckily, there's a few places locally back in NC that make pretty good ones. Nothing like in NYC, though...

SRV is a good idea...

hehe Aaron, I've been around on here and the Decware forums this week. I've been avoiding CA.com because I don't have time for that crap when I'm on vacation. As for those horns, I would make sweet sweet love to them, all night long. Curious to know what kind of amps those are.

cigars, hell...what about the pics of the "locals" Although beach pics with the wifey around would be tough.

The most important info? Make sure it's timbre-matched to the rest of the surround. For movies, a lot of the material (dialogue, center effects) are covered by the CC, so you want to make sure it blends nicely with the rest of the soundstage.

I've used Canons recently, and they've worked great for me. I'd stay away from HP, as they've gone from seperate ink cartridges for each color to a single "color" cartridge - so no matter whether you run out of yellow, magenta or cyan first, you need to replace the entire thing. Just a way for them to sell more, I'd imagine.

Probably will see it tomorrow night. The opening is probably going to be nuts around here. There's a good theater on 42nd, just a few blocks from here...saw Batman there a few days ago...I liked it.

hello from the concrete jungle...just wanted to get in here for a bit before i go get some munchies.

Stuck between the two. I like the e12a.22 option because of the displacement/$ value - it's adding another driver at under $200 vs. spending the $400+ for a new LMT. Leaves me with cash left over. But if there's something really special about the new SS offering that dual underhung drivers with 50+mm of Xmax combined can't touch...I'll fork over the cash. Just interested in your opinions. Supa, I know what you're going to say Figured I'd post on here because it'll stay up longer and I'll get more intelligent responses.
