    RE Audio

Their switch to a dealer network instead of online sales caused the rabble to go elsewhere...

    Baltic Birch the best?

One cube of MDF is not going to do much as far as weight goes...

    Component set on budget

That's a pretty good budget For the amp, I'd look for a used 4-channel, something a couple years old, would give you more to spend on speakers. For those, I'd start looking on Zaphaudio.com and Madisound and seeing what you can afford.

    4 15's

A picture of some kind would help immensely...even if it's a scan of a napkin drawing, we're not picky

His bashing and biased is so prevalent, I have no idea how he can be respected as a journalist. If obama gets elected, what in the world is he going to bitch about? His show will have lost its purpose, same thing can be applied to the woman from Air America that MSNBC thinks is worthy of her own show. His politics aside, you have to concede that all Sportscenter anchors are merely pale copies of what Olbermann did for that show. Personally, I think he makes a much better sports broadcaster than a political one.

Some people just need a punch to the nose. If you're bragging to some girl about traveling all over Europe on your mom's settlement check because she got in a horrible wreck and suffered nerve damage, I think you should be able to hear yourself...nevermind the fact that everybody else around you hears what you're saying as well. L'enfer, des autres
  12. A 3-way active setup is a little out of the realm of someone who's just trying to grasp the concepts, IMO

    Hurricane Gustav

Indeed. A two-week supply of boxed food and snacks only takes up a couple shelves, and might save your ass from sitting in giant herds or worse...

My amps used to hum... ...until I taught them the words and with that, I go to bed

I think they probably sell something marketed as one, I know Radioshack used to, who knows how well they actually work, though. I'm sure if you did a search on AVS or somewhere else you'd find comparisons of isolators that work and are reasonable in price. I know Jensen Transformers makes some really nice isolators for audio or video, but they're kind of pricey ($60 to $200 depending on inputs and such).

What you need is a ground loop isolator for the coax...

1 - Do you have cable? 2 - Does a cheater plug remove the hum?
  21. Simplifying? One component set, one (or two) amps...keep things simple...

Do explain, please I did above, didn't I? Were you just talking about something used? If it's new and you're not concerned about resale I'm not sure I follow. Buying new is stupid, thought that was implied. I am only concerned about buying price - selling price, or what I would call the real cost of the vehicle (maintenance excluded which everyone of course is concerned about). A few year old fully loaded vehicle ages very gracefully on your pocketbook, much better than a stripper. Ah, I understand now. Although to be honest, there aren't a lot of options that I particularly want to have, so their absence wouldn't be missed. I can do without the 8-way heated memory seats, down here Or maybe it's because I've gone the last 6 years in a vehicle that has absolutely no options, so my expectations aren't there Good luck selling a 10 year old vehicle with no options. There are two things buyers look for in a used vehicle, all sorts of goodies and something that is clean. The second part is up to you to uphold, but rather easy the first you have to buy upfront. Never said I was selling anything
