    Welcome to the IHoP

Fook, that don't take much. Should have been around the other place when it first started. Was mmmuuuucccchhh better. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because it basically was SIN/CSO's original group I've read some of the old posts, notice how there's been a steady stream of intelligence outbound, but not much coming in again...

    Welcome to the IHoP

Zane isn't on as much as he used to be Nor are some other guys from '03-'04 that really made the place good... But it's still better than "the other place"

    Should post more often

    Welcome to the IHoP

Isn't as much traffic there to support the 40+ post days that we had on CA.com at times...not even wh0ring, just replying. But less traffic's a good thing to some degree.

    Welcome to the IHoP

I've gotten about 500+ posts on CSO since my "return" a couple of weeks ago...

    System overhaul

Do you like Glide Touch or not? Because that's going to make or break that head unit for you...

    ya srsly
  8. Original Klipschhorns? I think I'd really want to be in your shoes right now 102 (or 104, I forget) dB/W efficient, you could send them three watts and knock your ears off. Like any Klipsch speaker, though, they're going to be extremely fussy with room placement and love large rooms. But man, what I wouldn't do for a huge room and a set of K-horns to go in it
  9. The five LaScalas would be over 3 grand, but OK There was a guy selling a matched set of four Forte II's about a week after I bought my pair. Consecutive serial numbers, light oak, flawless condition. He wanted $1k or something, crazy low. Still wonder what kind of surround setup that would have made, timbre-matched, with a La Scala as a CC
  10. Go seperates...it's calling you...

Exactly...same philsophy for amplifiers as well
  12. You said you wouldn't buy my Adcom, so you can't whine about that one. I'll stop going OT now
  13. If it ends up being a Marantz 8B or something like that, I'd send you $50 just to taunt you
  14. If it's a mic-level preamp, then forget it, but maybe post up a picture here, could be something useful. For $3000, you can put together a very respectable surround setup, or go all-out in 2.1 and go seperates. I think I've spent around 3 grand on the setup in my apartment, not sure though...

Pffhbbbt. I just hope I never have to touch the Xovers in the Klipschs. Three way with HLCDs and a PR...no way to make that simple.
  16. What do you already have? The "some tube amps" comment didn't slip past me, you know Receiver = integrated amplifier + broadcast tuner Integrated amplifier = preamp + power amplifier No, the outputs of a receiver are speaker-level.

    And overrated

I'm feeling the same way now...

    Uber

It's a relatively low Qts for a true HT driver, though...helps to explain the small enclosure size.
  20. Your post at first confused the hell out of me...you know, power amplifiers aren't just used for subs Kind of hard to recommend anything until we know the power requirements, impedances, budget, all that good stuff.

Time to do a little research Go on DIYaudio.com, there are tons of knowledgeable people that should be able to help you out. Would be my first stop. http://www.termpro.com/articles/xover2.html Almost required reading for this sort of thing.

Tweet - Mid - Mid I'd cancel the crossovers, keep the drivers, and maybe make another order with the crossover parts once you know what you need. Or just wait on the entire order until you have the crossover designed.

Well, out of that, I would have just skipped the $40 in crossovers Homebrewing an Xover, especially with multiple midbasses, will make an average loudspeaker sound excellent. DIYaudio.com would be my first place to go to ask for advice about Xover design...some really knowledgeable people on there. Good choice in drivers though.

    which sub for HT

I'd stay away from those crossovers, though...especially for a TMM setup. If you can afford a used set, a pair of Klipsch Heresy's will tear your ears off given proper amplification...HLCD's for midrange and highs. In-room sensitivity of around 92dB/W.
