You know, unless someone deserves it, we could really do without the asinine comments...
-
I never metered it, because I didn't care Not sure what you mean by their "SPL" line, maybe the SX?
-
I like their older stuff...anything newer than the Titanium series, meh.
-
Be honest with yourself, which one do you want more?

Directed 2400D vs. Orion 2500D
JimJ replied to gearstix's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
It still does over 1kW at 2, right? -
Assuming it'll split off to 4awg, that sounds fine.
-
I wouldn't try anywhere near that amount of power at the moment, it's a recipe for coming back on here asking why your tinsel leads melted, or the surround ripped, or any one of many things happened

Directed 2400D vs. Orion 2500D
JimJ replied to gearstix's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'm curious why you'd need to run the Orion at a half ohm... -
Personally, if it were me I'd build some sort of floor and 2x4 frame system to hold everything in place...and to allow for future expansion...but that's just me

If you're going to spend $80, go on Ebay or one of these forums and get something vintage that's used, instead of a modern piece of junk I know you can find PG M50's for that price...would be a heck of a lot better than that.

decent amp for 2 re se 10's?
JimJ replied to bristabrock's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Wouldn't need a 2-channel, a 1.2kW monoblock would be fine, and there are plenty of those in that price range. -
Is it just me, or do the specs on that amp make absolutely no sense?
-
Too many factors to answer properly...the DPs have a cone area advantage, but power compression may be more of a factor with less drivers than the JBLs. Since there aren't that many 21's on the market currently, it'll be a little more unique than the W15GTI's, which are no stranger to the SPL lanes.

At least the ones he's posted in here have been quite nice
-
Just a 4" flatwound copper-clad aluminum coil with an underhung motor, from what I've read. Could be wrong about that, though...I've never taken one apart.
-
They should be, but I have doubts that the system will let them in... I thought WVU actually had a decent quarterback and O-line, unlike VT; and well, what happened happened...
-
Happy birthday!
-
Yes, but if it's SQ you're after I don't see the point for doing it.
-
ECU is making West Virginia look worse than VT...and that's saying something...
-
Louder doesn't equal better for me so I'd have a hard time answering that I'd certainly take the BM's over CompVR's or W3v3's.
-
Maybe I just don't see it, but what's keeping those batteries in place other than gravity?
-
There's also the question of whether or not it's a good/safe idea to run anywhere near that kind of power every day, but that's something else entirely
-
It's not a fixed rule, it's just what's commonly specified at least for home use. The worst that could happen is that you end up with basically something that falls within the recommended sealed enclosure specs, which still will sound very good Even one 12" will give very good results in a setup like this...I really like Dave's Icon in the rear deck with 500W or so.

You'd have to be careful with another 18", even with one the trunk is not really "IB" in the classic sense of 4x to 10x Vas, I'm not sure I'd go any more than that.
