If he's running 200W and Maggies, got to be some serious push/pull stuff there... Tell him you know some crazy 20something goon back east that swears by single ended triodes
-
Looks like quite a nice setup...me jealous
-
5 or 6 channel would be hawt... No crossovers/processing needed, to cut down on costs...just a heatsink and connectors
-
Excellent info! My journey down the road of single ended triodes has taught me this all too well...getting reference levels with a lightbulb's worth of watts is no place for puny, stand-mounted "bookshelf" speakers

yes, my tubes are quite big and shiny

I like them... And the gold wheels on the dark green Fiero Matt posted were hawt as well

I'm being prawned by ground loops Turns out the problem's bigger than I thought, well duh... Only way to get the damn noise to stop is by unplugging the RCA's that go to the amps. Adding the preamp makes it hum like a sumfemale dog, adding the sub in the mix makes it worse. Might have to try those ground loop isolators, at least on one set of interconnects...

Well, since there are no hardware stores open on Sunday, apparently, and Blowe's and Home Despot suck for selection, guess i'm going to have to wait until tomorrow to get the stereo fixed correctly...I'll ghetto rig it now just to make sure.
