electrical for 4 ma hk4000d's?
JimJ replied to pimpedout97x's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I was being serious... -
Thanks for the offer...think I'm going to look elsewhere though All I ask for is a pair of 500Hz horns and compression drivers for under $400...too much to ask apparentlly

electrical for 4 ma hk4000d's?
JimJ replied to pimpedout97x's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
The simple answer? Keep buying batteries until your wallet or suspension breaks, whatever comes first. -
And they might be just down the road from Sean, depending on where he lives, lol
-
*crosses fingers* might have found the speakers I want...maybe...
-
Binghamton, huh...ever check out the Mac factory?

How do you lose track of where a sub is? "My bad..."

I'm a n00b on Audiokarma.org, just started posting there a few months ago...about a dozen people met up yesterday to cook out, swap stuff, and demo other people's stuff. Little selection of stuff...Altec biflex woofers, horns, my SV811 monos, the kickass KT88 push/pull amp, HK integrated, etc... These supertweets just look frightening - on Pioneer HPM towers. I thought my tube gear was heavy. This is the beefiest damn receiver I've ever seen. It's time to make the donu...err, refoam the speakers Old-school AR, rocking out after refoaming

Killer deal on PG amps at Parts Express
JimJ replied to raderme's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
That's actually not that great of a deal, considering they're rated in max power instead of RMS, and you can find PG Tantrum 1200.1's for that same price. But thank you for the link anyway -
x2 on all of that. I have this feeling like I'm going to leave here with a degree and be doing something totally unrelated...which may not be a bad thing for a while.

Definitely have to love what you're doing...the pay sucks compared to the chit you'd go through. One of the people my parents rent to is a cop, and he's applying for law school. It's odd around here, you can be on the Duke campus and in two minutes be on some gang's turf...and Durham isn't even really all that big of a city. But what do I know, I'll probably be taking the same approach

I just ignore people... or start making blantant sexual advances, they seem to stop bothering me after that

Natural selection. Idiots die! This one lived. One last year didn't. I'd be the guy hiding down the hall with an airsoft machine gun nest...just in case...

Starbucks is one of those places I won't go to out of principle...give me a local place any time.

Here, fixed it for ya! You didn't fix it for me, i meant what i said. In theory a properly built ported box will be cleaner sounding than a sealed box, at any given output level because for a sealed box to play at the same output level you are requiring more power and thus the amplifier is doing more work and creating more distortion, and the subwoofer is working harder, and therefore creating more distortion. Lets look at it this way: ported enclosures are more efficient, more efficient speaker systems are cleaner, that is why compression horns are viewed so highly in the sq world. *note that i said a PROPERLY BUILT PORTED ENCLOSURE, the ultimate enclosure for sq is infinite baffle for sheer frequency extension, but is even more complicated to build properly than a ported enclosure. So there clarified and fixed for myself But what do you notice more...the lower THD produced by the speaker, or the hump in frequency response?

Think I might have found replacements for the Fortes...which are up on Ebay, I'm tired of people backing out. I want these damn things out of here.

hmm...might go to radford to see it, I don't feel like driving to the 'noke if i'm not going for anything else...

Optima Battery in parallel
JimJ replied to theabunai's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
There shouldn't be any problems. Optima can't know every make and model of battery that users might connect to their own product, so that statement is just covering their ass from a liability perspective. -
Is the theater in the mall still there? I went around 10:15 last night and they were closed...

Another idiot got hit by a car on campus yesterday... You'd think people would be smart enough to put down their damn phones and look before going out into traffic, but no.

You'd be hard-pressed to come up with a better option than an SI Mag in the recommended sealed alignments...I'd say start with a cube and add polyfill as desired.

If nothing else it'll make me put the Sony on DVD duty...which is right now the only reason why I'm not dropping it out the window and/or running it over many times.
