I'm still scratching my head at why you went with Boston components
-
The first problem sounds like you have a loose connection somewhere. "1/3 full" really doesn't mean anything, how much voltage are you getting from the head unit?
-
It's worth mentioning that once you're spending more than $500 or so for individual subwoofers, you really need to be looking into other parts of the system and making sure you're allocating your money properly. While there are audible reasons, to me, why I'd prefer an Aura NS over a Mag D2, for example...I wouldn't spend the extra $250 or so unless I knew my front stage was damn near perfect and I couldn't use that difference on something to improve it. People seem to have an unneccessary fetish with subwoofers.

Because seeing out the windshield is usually a good thing?

Really glad to see this coming together...
-
And you got rid of them? Heretic!

Rockford Fosgate has an excellent section on it.
-
Which would you choose?

To my ears, the W7 is not the best sounding driver JL makes. I prefer the W6v2 to it...no contest. There's a few drivers that to me, sound better than the W6v2...but it's very close. I'd suggest the Aura NS series, Madisound stocks them. Focal Utopias or Rainbow Vanadiums would also be good choices. None are cheap.

You really need to find someone locally and/or do a crapton of reading on DIYMA and ECA. We can't possible begin to answer everything on a format like this.

Yeah, but...but...but... *runs away*

That "review" of the Mag was one of the worst pieces of drivel I've ever had the misfortune to read in my life. They never got in touch with Nick, instead apparently Googled "Stereo Integrity" and came up with some audio shop in upstate NY, and thought that they came out with their own line of drivers. They sent it a fraction of its rated power (~300W, IIRC), and wondered why the output wasn't up to par with other speakers. Meanwhile, the RE MX was listed as one of the finest subs ever tested for the magazine, in both subjectivity and SPL... I couldn't give a chit what CA&E does, it comes down to whoever pays for the pretty advertising.

I happen to know where a custom-made box/amp rack is for a Dodge Magnum, all ready to go Used to house an Adire Brahma 15"...

Bring your favorite vinyl.

JBL...not too bad. Hifonics, their XX series. The rest you can keep. -

Zapco, Sundown, older generations of Phoenix Gold (Titanium, Tantrum, ZX, M series), Rockford Fosgate, Rainbow, Helix, Tru Technology... -
I wouldn't run a second set of tweets unless absolutely neccessary. "Subs" imply sub-bass...midbass speakers reproduce midbass You don't *need* to do kickpanels, but it'd help to get a picture of your door so we could see what you're working with.

You can buy them from Parts Express or other online type places, I'm not sure Home Despot or No's sells them locally.
-
"Front stage" is a very ephemeral term for your soundstage and the equipment that produces it...basically, what and where you hear things. A competition CD like IASCA's tells you exactly where certain instruments are supposed to be, for example, if there's a cymbal on the left side of the stage in real life, it better be on the left side of your vehicle. Or if a singer's recorded dead center, your system would reproduce that realistically.
-
A really good front stage and a substage that blends with it. Do you have pictures of your doors, and how the speakers are mounted?

A Weller 75-100W gun would heat up quickly and do a good job with tinsels. As for solder, stay away from anything acid-based...

Hmm...price on the EOS 10D's have come down a lot...may be time to upgrade...
