What's an ohmagem? Sounds like something that happens when you leave food out too long..."Dude, there's some ohmagem on my sandwich!" Burnt tinsel leads is a sign that there's too much current going to the woofer.

Some people take the internet way too seriously.

Beautiful stuff. Nice equipment rack Have you thought about adding supertweets to the FE103s? With the height of those horns, they'd be perfect for it...

2.83V @ 4 ohms = 2 watts...so to compare it to regular measurements, it's actually 88dB @ 1w/1m. The BTL is listed at 93.3dB @ 1w/1m. FWIW. Judging by the specs, they seem to be two very different ways of going about the same goal.

Is this a integrated shelf stereo thing? Just a "CD player" doesn't tell a whole lot...
-
It's a high-pass filter, starts attenuating lower frequencies while letting higher ones pass through... Ported enclosures don't "control" the woofer's cone movement below tuning, so if you play strong, low tones and have a box that's tuned high, it's likely you can overexcurt the woofer and cause mechanical damage.

What voice coil configurations do you look for?

Wouldn't mind seeing more drivers with quads -
I wouldn't trust that amp with doing rated power, but it shouldn't be too far off...

This is starting to sound like a work day over at Dave's place...Ramos & Nick will get into a full-length discussion about the correct grammatical uses of "iffin'" "Iffin' y'all don't put that gat dam squirrel gun down, y'all gonna blow dem dur fingaz off..."

If someone can't write a sentence that other people cannot understand, they're being perfectly understood

I would either recommend Knu or Kicker Hyperflex. I've had good luck with Knukonceptz, going to re-wire my living room entirely with it one of these days.

Nice feature. -
Transient response is much more a function of a driver's inductance than its cone area.
-
I wouldn't really go with AB either if he wants something to sound good...but it depends on how picky he is.
-
Then DD is not what he should be looking at. A Mustang is not a cavernous space, there are plenty of drivers out there that are very accurate and will break 140dB given the proper install.

Totally depends on the amp I'd have at the time...as long as I can get the amount of power I'd want out of the amp, the impedance I end up with isn't a factor. -
You have to pay attention to whether or not the calculator is giving you internal or external dimensions...

I know exactly what I'd do with them... http://passdiy.com/projects/el-pipe-o-1.htm In the short term I'd probably just run the stuffed lines in the van, at least it'd be fun for scaring people at local shows and doing infrasound demos

How did the signal look on an o'scope?

I'm willing to bet the words "square" and "wave" factored into this equation

The inductors required to do passive 3-way scare me. There's a lot of copper in them thar thangs... The one thing I'd change is to run the mids in kicks, to reduce the pathlength difference. Midbasses could go in the doors.

Not always. Altec/JBL did wonders with low displacement, extremely low Mms, low Xmax drivers, that happen to sound excellent A sweeping generalization...
