Still way too many for it to have a chance at having any coherent image. If that's not important, go for it.

Far too many to begin to list.

Thermal power handling often times isn't the deciding factor in really low frequency ability, you're probably going to run out of linear travel before the coil ever heats up. It's totally box dependent, but if I was building something to extend really deep I'd probably start with the Q, I'd just feel better working with a flatter response.

Monoblock vs Class D Amps
JimJ replied to turtles1118's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Like Tirefryr said, a monoblock is a single channel amplifier. Class D is an amplifier topology where the output devices are switched between full on and off states, hence why some people (incorrectly) refer to them as "digital" amps. -

Not all monoblocks are Class D, and not all Class D amps are monoblocks...they're two different things. -
There's been a couple scripts to do it, but as soon as CL finds out they're gone.

For that vehicle, I don't have a lot of experience with unibodies so I can't help you much. I'd just start pulling carpet and see if there's any channels or places you can fit it.

Where does an Arsenal fit in the Fi lineup?
JimJ replied to tC_skier's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I didn't say that... I haven't heard any of the new AA products, so I can't compare it to the Q. I meant that between the Q and the SSD, you have two very good "reference" speakers...so the Arsenal would probably compare to those. -

Either the Q or the SSD, I don't think it's really worth anything to try to compare it directly... -
Yes.

I'd go sealed. Unless you're driving a cave they'll be plenty of output.

Headroom is a good thing....so is having extra channels to run active

Anyone have any cheap computer parts sitting around? Before I buy anything I want to see if I can get this spare machine I have going...I need two IDE ribbon cables, some 512MB PC133 RAM chips, and maybe a small IDE HD, like a 10G or 20G just in case the 40 I have here is bad.

I'm amazed how "conditioner" comes out right yet "lapp" doesn't I thought Soundstream couldn't find their own asses with the help of a map?

I thought I was wordy in posts...I got nothin' on this guy: (on the role of subjectivity and objectivity in audio) http://audiokarma.org/forums/showpost.php?...mp;postcount=66 I surrender!

In my experience amplifier efficiency and better-sounding results tend to go in opposite directions

If only motor size was an indicator of a sub's performance...

New layout? I can't tell a difference if it changed...if you're talking about the new default skin that can be changed to one of the other ones.

They'll work, but often times it's a PITA to make any adjustments, and some won't let you do everything.

I'm curious to know what turned you off to the W6v2's sound, throw the pricetag out the window for the moment. I'd love to make a recommendation for a Fi Q, SI BM, or one of two dozen other higher-tier speakers, but I want to know what you're hearing first. Otherwise we could be barking up the wrong tree... Just trying to save you money and time spent experimenting

Might have found a deal on a computer...I'd call it an HTPC but I don't have the "HT" part of that

Figuring how out something will affect an SPL score is a pretty complex task...anything that lowers a panel's resonance or obstructs airflow could change it...who knows until you get on the meter. It could be that the box's resonance is reinforcing the rear wave in just such a way to contribute to a higher score. Same thing happens with adding sound deadener - sometimes you see a gain, sometimes you don't.

I'm sure he could get one, at full retail
