Nope.
-
Nope, not always. That's pretty high...at least high enough for it not to matter at all. The output impedance is low enough on both amps that DF shouldn't be a concern of yours.

This lag is killing me.

I think you're mistaken...wiring a DVC 2 ohm driver results in either a 1 ohm load in parallel or 4 ohms in series, having a dual 1 ohm driver won't get you anything as I'm not sure I'd want to run the SAE below 1 ohm, and you can only wire it to 1/2 or 2 ohms in that configuration.

You really should try to audition as many different speakers as you can - $1000 is no place to be buying things without either hearing them or having a good frame of reference. Sounds like a pair of horn loaded compression drivers, like a set of Image Dynamics full body horns, might be a way to go...then you'd run a conventional 7" or 8" midbass driver with them. You could EQ the horns to sound however you'd want them to sound, they can get very shrill but to your ears it might be more balanced that way.

For that kind of budget, it's stupid to only consider passive sets. What do you place a priority on? Midrange, midbass...etc. Although with that budget you're not going to have to make a lot of compromises. I'd say get a set of Scanspeak Revelators, and read up on Zaphaudio.com for tweets. Pretty sure you could get a pair of SS's ring radiators and still stay under budget, but I'm not sure on that.

For a substage, sounds OK, but you'd need more for a "system". That's totally vehicle and enclosure dependent. So go sealed, that ported box is going to have a steep rolloff under tuning...

Personally, I liked the Q more...

You should see the pricetag on inverters meant for interfacing with the power grid 'Spensive stuff...but if you're making/selling back your own electricity it pays for itself.

http://www.altersystems.com/catalog/exelte...rter-p-495.html Those got good reviews in a renewable energy mag I read sometimes.

Most consumer level units are "modified power" in marketspeak, which means square waves...I wouldn't trust them for anything beyond a coffeemaker or cell phone charger.
-
True sinewave inverters aren't cheap. Maybe cross the tweet over higher with a shallower slope? 5K seems awfully low for that combo.

If you listen to rap, you should be happy.

On Ebay, sure. Elsewhere, eh. Vinyl pretty much wallops it for what's available, and unlike LP's there's really nobody releasing stuff on tape now. The same could be said about your BIB's

And they just look so cool.

There's a couple good deals on reel-to-reel stuff around here... I do need a project for the winter...hmm

I won't need it for another week anyhow, and I'd need to pick up a new 1/8" to RCAs cable as I can't find the one I had...it was falling apart anyway, I never bought a good one. My soundcard has an optical output, but what do I have that has an optical input on it
-
Deer running outside my window...they're lucky I don't have a gun. Bastards still owe me $500 as far as I'm concerned.
-
Need to go to Ratshack to pick up a wallwart for my sound card too, I have the USB cable but no power for it
-
Just picked up teh new computer. Waiting on Paypal to go through so my HD, wireless card and other shit will ship. Also wouldn't mind finding a place that sells RAM really cheap. Newegg has a sucky selection.

I could seed once I get back to Tech, but who knows what my outgoing b/w would be...
