mmm, upgradeability... Just have to find a damn power cable for my sound card, and I'll have FLAC in my living room...any time I want it.

The Halo is a good unit. If you want something tubed, might be tough with a remote...

Not everyone's a basshead...

Simple solution...get another Q

Sub layout would probably depend for me on how the amp rack/rest of the system was laid out...the only two Fi products that I'd consider personally would be the Q or SSD.

External Fuse Question
JimJ replied to king alpha's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
That fuse is designed to keep the wire from melting in the event of a short. As long as it's properly sized for the wire, you don't have a problem. You could run a lower amperage fuse (assuming there's nothing else drawing power, there isn't a front stage amp?) but *never* a higher rated one... -
I'd say raise your budget for the amp. What have you done to the electrical system to support 3kW?

A typo is one thing, we've all done those. Habitually missing the language is something else...

you're going to be an EMT? Hopefully yes. Getting the Basic cert. isn't very useful, but regardless how my interviews go this fall I'm taking the class. I'd like to end up with higher level certifications, but we'll see.

God dammit, it's I'M GOING TO. He posted build pictures of it. Shitty material, but it's not a prefab.

Could always just build a rack...not that difficult.

"A Basic Guide to Crossovers" and other things
JimJ replied to flakko's topic in Technical Info & How To's
I thought it was a little oversimplified and generalized in places, but OK. -
You aren't "underpowering" them at all

Not if you have the right equipment...

At least any Lanzar other than an older Optidrive. Check your other thread, we'll get you help there.

For a subwoofer line, PVC generally isn't very practical. "Port" lengths are too long, so unless you're considering a 14-foot high straight pipe like Nelson Pass used I'd go the slot route. Although few things are as visually (and sonically) impressive as a sub pipe that's over two times as tall as you and is flat to 13Hz :drools: If you're even thinking about a TL, http://www.t-linespeakers.org and Martin King's http://www.quarter-wave.com are both required reading.

need help about amps
JimJ replied to jmitchell75009's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
What's your budget? They mean the same thing. -
I remembered you did that, I might be asking for advice when I start EMT-B in September

It'll buff out. Nice pants BTW.

Polyfill works as the stuffing, how much you use is determined by your ears and what design you use...it's one of those things that you need to build, stuff, listen, adjust, re-stuff as needed.

Interesting stuff...in no way affordable, but maybe there's a future market... http://www.tapeproject.com/

Pictures look fine, maybe a bit overexposed but stopping down should take care of that...
